Whoever ends up taking Florida State's vacant head coaching position is going to have to work fast and work smart to salvage the Seminoles' 2018 signing class.

Two days after Jimbo Fisher resigned to accept the head coaching position at Texas A&M, Florida State lost three more commitments on Sunday night -- linebacker Patrick Joyner, receiver Antoine Green and running back Jashaun Corbin.

That brings the total number of recent decommitments to seven. The Seminoles earlier lost defensive backs Jonathan Huggins, Houston Griffith and Israel Mukuamu, as well as offensive lineman Verdis Brown.

With less than three weeks remaining before the new early signing period, which begins Dec. 20, FSU is now down to 11 committed players.

The class, which currently features six four-star prospects and five three-stars, has plummeted in the national recruiting rankings to No. 40. The two schools ranked immediately higher than them are No. 38 Purdue and No. 39 Vanderbilt.

Before the rash of decommitments, the Seminoles were ranked in the top 10.

FSU is believed to be in talks with Oregon head coach Willie Taggart, a native Floridian who likely could rebuild the Seminoles' signing class in quick order. If FSU hires a coach without strong ties in Florida, it could be extremely difficult to salvage the class.
