Greg Jones ready to hit someone, anyone
Greg Jones' Florida State career was defined by one play. His crushing hit on North Carolina's Dexter Reid in the 2003 season opener that leveled the Tar heels defensive back will go down as one of the all time runs in Seminole history. That run and others are why the Jacksonville Jaguars traded up to draft the bruising back, and so far, the team is thrilled with what they have. But what they didn't anticipate is that Jones would be their starting fullback and not running back.

"If you asked me a year ago if I'd be a fullback, I'd say no," said Jones. "But it's a business and it's what I've gotta do."
On Sunday, Jones had one of the longest runs of his NFL career. From the fullback spot, he ran up the middle for 27 yards. It was a sign of what Jones can do when given the chance, but that's the problem, he's still waiting for that chance. This year, Jones has three carries for 29 yards, not eye-popping numbers, but for an NFL fullback, it's not so bad.
"All I have to do now is stay healthy and keep my body right, that's all," said Jones. "A running back wants the ball all the time. But I want to help my team win. If that's what I gotta do, then that's what I gotta do."
The 6-foot-1, 250-pound fullback is living the perfect life. He is married to his long time girlfriend Dana and has a young son, named appropriately, Greg Jones, Jr. He's long removed from his FSU days, but there's not a day that goes by when he isn't thinking about his alma matter, in fact, his locker is stocked with all things Florida State.
"Yea man, I watched that whole game on Saturday," said Jones. "I keep up with those guys. I saw Warrick, Boulware and the guys last week."
In perfect Jones fashion, when asked if he'd rather block an incoming linebacker or score a touchdown, it doesn't take long to come up with an answer.
"Hitting someone and looking down at them is a good feeling," said Jones. "I just need to get the angles, the blocking, and go after the d-lineman."
