TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State University has been selected as a regional host for the 2017 NCAA Baseball Tournament by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. The four-team regional is scheduled for June 2-5 on Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium. Florida State will serve as a regional host for the seventh consecutive season, the 19th time in the last 21 seasons and the 34th time in school history when play begins Friday.

Florida State, which won its seventh ACC Championship on Sunday with a 7-3 win over No. 2 ranked North Carolina, has won 18 of its last 23 games since April 16. The Seminoles finished with a 4-0 record in the ACC Tournament. They earned wins over Notre Dame, No. 5 Louisville, Duke and No. 2 North Carolina to win the championship.

Florida State’s selection as a host site for the regional round of the tournament ensures the Seminoles have also been selected to the NCAA Tournament for the 40th-consecutive season, the second-longest active streak in the country. Each regional field features four teams, playing a double-elimination format.

The remaining at-large selections, top-eight national seeds, first round regional pairings and site assignments will be announced at 12 Noon (ET), Monday, May 29 on ESPN.

The Super Regional sites will be announced on www.ncaa.com/cws, on Monday, June 5 at approximately 11 p.m. (ET).

There are 31 Division I conferences which will receive an automatic berth in the field of 64, along with 33 at-large selections. The 69th Men’s College World Series begins play Friday, June 16, at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska.

EARLIER REPORT

Florida State's hot finish to the regular season and perfect 4-0 performance in the ACC Baseball Championship was enough to earn the Seminoles one of 16 NCAA Regional host sites.

The host sites were announced Sunday evening, but the entire field will not be unveiled until Monday at noon ET. That's when the Seminoles (39-20) will learn which theee teams are joining them in Tallahassee.

As recently as two weeks ago, FSU was considered a major longshot to host in the postseason. But that was before the Seminoles reeled off three wins against top-five Louisville and another big win Sunday against No. 2 North Carolina.

That come-from-behind victory gave the Seminoles their seventh ACC title and second in three years. FSU enters the NCAA tournament having won 18 of its last 23 games.
