Friday was another good day for Florida State when Bradenton (Fla) IMG Academy's Verdis Brown announced he had committed to the Seminoles. Brown's decision also helped the Seminoles get closer to meeting their goal of stocking up on four-to-five linemen in this class. We now take a closer look at what the pick-up of the four-star lineman means for the Seminoles, including a detailed scouting report.
You can never have enough big road-graders in the trenches and Florida State is off to a great start with three commitments for the 2018 class. The Rivals250 member is the latest linemen to jump on board.
"I've actually known for a little while that is where I'm going, but I just haven't told anyone until today," Brown said on Friday. "It's the people, the coaches, players, everything that really was the big thing for me. I loved it all. I'm excited to be apart of the family now."
How will Verdis Brown fit in at FSU?
After signing just one offensive linemen in the 2017 class, Florida State desperately needed to load up at this position in 2018. The addition of Brown, who is likely to begin his career at the Center, is a very positive step towards restocking the position for the future.

"Since Trickett has been there they have gotten motor guys, and maulers. They have really good interior guys like Baveon Johnson, Landon Dickerson," explained Rivals' National Recruiting Analyst Mike Farrell. "What those guys do is they play very well in a phone booth and I think Verdis will fit in very well with that type of system. Also, I think what is really good for Verdis is he will be going against very good defensive tackles with crazy motors at FSU and that will make him a great player."
