Jonathan Isaac, the freshman phenom who helped Florida State reach the NCAA Tournament, is officially an NBA player. Isaac was drafted sixth by the Orlando Magic in the first round of the NBA Draft on Thursday.

Isaac becomes the 12th first-round selection in FSU's history. He's the program's second-highest pick behind Dave Cowens, who was drafted fourth in 1970 by the Boston Celtics.

His selection also gives FSU its second straight year of having a first-rounder. Last year, former Seminoles shooting guard Malik Beasley was drafted 19th by the Denver Nuggets. He's also the third underclassman in school history to go in the first, joining Beasley and forward Chris Singleton, who was drafted 18th by the Washington Wizards in 2011.

By beginning his NBA career in Orlando, Isaac is now one of the rare players who can say they've stayed in one state to play in high school, college and the NBA. Isaac, who is from Naples, Fla., attended IMG Academy in Bradenton before spending one season in Tallahassee.

At 6-foot-10 and 210 pounds, he possesses the athleticism, length and two-way ability which has kept him in the lottery discussion for the last two years.

The former five-star prospect and McDonald's All-American averaged 12.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks to help the Seminoles finish 26-9 and make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2012. Isaac and the Seminoles opened with a win over Florida Gulf Coast before losing to Xavier which reached the Elite Eight.
