It's a bird ... it's a plane ... it's Super Cam? Fans obsess over young RB
Florida State fans were excited about five-star running back Cam Akers when he committed to the Seminoles last December.
Those fans were even more intrigued after Akers' impressive spring game, when the early enrollee rushed 10 times for 87 yards and caught two passes for 15 more.
Now, having seen him in live game action against Alabama earlier this month, some FSU supporters apparently are nearing obsession levels.
During each of Jimbo Fisher's weekly call-in shows over the last three weeks, the FSU head coach has fielded numerous questions from fans about Akers and whether the Seminoles plan to tap into Akers' experience as a high school quarterback.
Most have asked about using the freshman in a "Wild Cam" package, where he would line up at quarterback and run primarily option plays as a change of pace. On Wednesday night, one of the callers went so far as to ask if FSU could switch to a wishbone attack with Akers at quarterback.
That one, which came after several others, seemed to tickle Fisher.
"I'll tell you what ... Cam can leap over small buildings in a single bound and do everything, cant he?" Fisher said with a laugh, making reference to the famous Superman action hero.

Fisher went on to praise Akers and say that he will get opportunities to run different packages in the future, but probably not until he learns everything he needs to know about playing tailback.
Fisher has given almost exactly the same answer at least a half-dozen times over the last three weeks.
"He's got to learn how to play running back first," Fisher said. "Let's give Cam time to learn one position, then we'll break him in to two or three."
Akers did show the ability to throw the football in high school. As a senior at Clinton (Miss.) High School, he passed for 3,128 yards and 31 touchdowns while also rushing for 2,105 yards and 34 touchdowns. He was named to the 2016 All-USA Today first-team offense as a quarterback.
