Josh Sweat to declare for NFL draft, skip bowl game
The college careers for handful of Florida State players have come to an end. Safety Derwin James was the first to announce that he was declaring for the NFL draft and would not play in the Dec. 27 Independence Bowl game against Southern Miss. Warchant.com has also learned that Josh Sweat plans to declare for the draft and bypass FSU's bowl game.
Sweat finished his junior season third on the team in tackles (56), led the team in tackles for loss (12.5) and sacks (5.5), and tied for first with six quarterback hurries. The former five-star recruit started 32 games at FSU and finished with 14.5 sacks and 138 tackles.

Several preseason mock drafts predicted that Sweat would be a late first round selection. However, concerns over a surgically-repaired knee and inconsistent play have tempered those projections. The Seminoles' junior defensive end is now expected to be a mid-round selection in the spring NFL draft.
