Florida State commitment Kain Daub is one of recruits invited to the Rivals Five-Star Challenge in Chicago. Warchant.com is following his experience at the invitation-only event. This is his opening entry as told to Michael Langston.
When I first arrived at the team hotel, I hung out in the players' lounge. They had NCAA13 set up in there. First, I smashed Kevin Toliver (LSU commitment) 21-0. He was LSU and I was Florida State. Then I played Dillon Bates (four-star LB from Ponte Vedra, Fla.). He had Tennessee and I had FSU, but he won. I also played an out-of-state receiver and beat him too.
I've been hanging out with Kevin all day. We both just joked around about getting each other to try and commit to the other school (FSU and LSU). We also went swimming and walked down a few blocks from the hotel where the Ferris wheel was (Navy Pier) and hung out there.
This is my first time in Chicago. It's a really big city and very nice. I thought it would be a little more country, I guess so that surprised me a little.
Later on in the evening, we had a great time at dinner. It was pretty crazy hearing former Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith talk. He talked about how you get to the NFL and what it takes.
Rivals Challenge: FSU Recruiting Targets Day One WrapClick After dinner, we picked our teams. I have Tre Williams (Auburn commitment) on my team and defensive end Deondre Clark. He also hung out me with me and Kevin (Toliver). I'm still learning some of the other guys on the team. Here to view this Link.
There was some talk that I was going to take a visit to Alabama, camp there. Right now, I'm just recruiting for FSU. I've shut things down. I don't even talk to other schools. I might camp at Alabama, but FSU is where I'll be.
I've been recruiting for FSU. I've talked to Josh Malone, Andrew Brown, Marlon Humphrey and Kevin Toliver. Those are some of the main guys I've been hitting up.
Look for Day Two of the Daub Five-Star Challenge coming soon.
