More on new FSU commitment Rodney Hudson

On Wednesday, Mobile (AL) B.C. Rain three-star offensive lineman Rodney Hudson went public with his commitment to Florida State. Prior to that decision, he was committed to West Virginia. But he says his commitment is now final and he is glad to finally have the recruiting process behind him.

"I am glad to be committed and to be done," Hudson said. "I made the decision late Monday night going into Tuesday morning. I talked to my mom and she really thought it was the right time.

"I am really looking forward to getting there. Everything was a factor in my decision when it came to Florida State. The coaches are real nice. The school is nice. The academics are real good. The facilities are great. I liked everything about Florida State."

The biggest reason behind his change of heart was a desire to play for offensive line coach Rick Trickett, who he committed to previously at West Virginia. With Trickett's decision to join up with Bobby Bowden at Florida State, the three-star lineman decided he wanted to follow him to Tallahassee.

When Hudson reached his decision, Trickett got the first call.

"I called Coach Trickett first," he said. "He was pretty happy. It was like when I committed to West Virginia. We are pretty tight so I talk to him about a lot of stuff.

"I trust coach Trickett. He is a good coach. He knows what he is doing with his players. He makes a lot of his offensive lineman into all-conference, all-American types of players. He has been telling me that he is trying to find five or six of us. He has been telling me how good they are and such. They are guys that fit his mold. I am one of those guys."

The mold that Hudson refers to is offensive linemen that have both quickness and strength, but not necessarily a huge frame.

"I am quick and aggressive," Hudson said. "I bench probably about 365 pounds and I can move real good."

The only remaining hurdle between Florida State getting Hudson's signature was a possible official visit to West Virginia this weekend. However, Hudson informed Warchant.com on Saturday that he did not take that visit.

According to Hudson, he is already fully qualified.
