Mr. Football pulls a shocker - Smith is a Nole

Florida State was the beneficiary of one of the huge signing day surprises. Five-star running back Antone Smith shocked South Florida when he announced from his school that he was going to sign with the Seminoles. Prior to his commitment, most felt the 5-foot-8, 190-pound speedster was a lock for the Miami Hurricanes but a good connection with FSU head coach Bobby Bowden and a good trip to Tallahassee last weekend made the difference. Other schools in the mix were Auburn and Florida.
This past season Smith was named Florida's Mr. Football. He rushed for 2,814 yards and 44 touchdowns and led his team to the Class 2B state title.
