OKLAHOMA CITY -- They were the outsiders since they got here, despite making their second Women's College World Series appearance in three years and the 10th in school history.

They were the only Atlantic Coast Conference team in the field, and the No. 6 seed of eight teams to make it this far.

When they knocked off softball blue blood UCLA two times on Sunday, they became the first ACC team to ever reach the best-of-three Championship Series.

Two days later -- two homer-hitting, smile-wearing, heart-palpitating days later -- the Florida State Seminoles delivered a loud-and-clear message to the rest of the college softball world: They are outsiders no more.

The Florida State Seminoles are the 2018 NCAA Champions.

After spotting Washington three runs (one earned) in the top of the first inning, Florida State flat-out dominated the Huskies in the final six innings to cruise to an 8-3 victory. The 'Noles scored two in the bottom of the first, three in the second and three in the fourth before cruising to the finish.

Junior left-hander Meghan King controlled the potent Washington lineup for the second consecutive game, and the 'Noles got home runs from Jessie Warren, Anna Shelnutt and Elizabeth Mason.

The earned run King surrendered in the first inning Tuesday was the first one she gave up in the entire World Series. She finished the tournament with the lowest ERA in WCWS history.
