Nations No. 1 guard ready to commit

If you follow Florida State's recruiting efforts, the last couple weeks have been a wild ride. The Seminoles have nabbed a dozen commitments during this time and have made a push up the Rivals.com Team Rankings. The Tribe could climb all the way up to the No. 3 spot this evening if all goes well.
That's because the two top prospects from Tallahassee Lincoln High School plan to make their commitments during the 6:00 p.m. newscast on WCTV (CBS affiliate). Of course those players are offensive lineman Calvin Darity (right) and linebacker Rodney Gallon.

Darity, the Rivals.com No. 1 rated guard, has been very quiet during the recruiting process but most believe the Seminoles are the team to beat. The four-star recruit is generally considered the top offensive lineman in Florida and he was offered scholarships by over 50 Division 1A programs. Over the last two months he took official visits to Nebraska, North Carolina, LSU, Tennessee and finally Florida State this past weekend.
The 6-foot-4, 275-pound guard is an outstanding student and carries a 3.9 GPA and scored over 1100 on the SAT.
Gallon, who is also a four-star recruit, will join Darity in making his commitment on local television. The all-state linebacker told Warchant.com on Sunday that he had narrowed his choices to FSU, Auburn and Tennessee.
If both Lincoln standouts decide to say home to play their college ball FSU will be up to 24 total verbal commitments. It would also mean the 'Noles' class would include 15 four and five-star recruits, which would be more than any other team in the country.
Defensive back Joe Manning, who had planned on announcing his decison today, will now wait until Wednesday.
If you live outside of Tallahassee and can't view the television broadcast, you can find out what Darity and Gallon say by going to the Warchant.com Premium Message Board.
