Depending on when you started following the recruitment of Rome, Ga., defensive lineman Jamarcus Chatman, one might have thought he was heading to LSU. Or Miami. Or North Carolina.
But as is always the case in recruiting, what's most important is who leads on National Signing Day ... and in this case, it's Florida State.
Chatman, who could play defensive end or defensive tackle at the next level, announced on Wednesday that he is signing with the Seminoles.
The three-star lineman was committed earlier to LSU, but Miami and UNC seemed to take the lead before FSU coach Willie Taggart started making inroads in recent weeks.
Chatman was very positive about Florida State after he visited in late January.
"I like how everything is so well connected with the stadium, facilities," he said. "I've never seen anything like that. I really liked the people here and my feeling of connecting with all the players, coaches. It was special. I love FSU. I really loved it. I don't really have a favorite yet, but I can see myself playing here for sure."
