Ranked as highly as #3 in the nation by Baseball America in the preseason polls, Florida State enters 2018 with expectations of returning to Omaha in their dogged pursuit of bringing home the program's first College World Series championship.

If history is any indication -- the 'Noles' have won 40 or more games for 40 consecutive seasons -- along the way, head coach Mike Martin (1,944 victories) is likely to catch and surpass Augie Garrido as the winningest coach in Division 1 history; the retired Garrido has 1,975 victories.

"Well, it's like I told the guys last week, for me to say the record doesn't mean that much -- that's a lie," said Martin, who enters his 40th season as head coach of Seminoles baseball. "That would be a stupid thing to say because everyone wants to feel like they've done the best they can possibly do in their jobs."

Martin returns an established core of Jackson Lueck, Cal Raleigh and Drew Mendoza in the lineup but the strength of the team in 2018 could be found elsewhere on the roster, explains Warchant.com senior writer Corey Clark. For more on his outlook for 2018, click the video above.
