That was one wild weekend for Lakeland (Fla.) Kathleen star Brendan Gant.

The Rivals100 defensive back, who had been committed to Alabama since December, took a trip to Tuscaloosa for the Crimson Tide's spring game and then followed that up with a trip to FSU. Shortly after that, he announced he was backing out on his commitment to Alabama and opening up his recruitment, leading to widespread speculation that he soon could become a 'Nole.

The move wasn't a complete surprise as Gant has stated several times that Florida State was a school he loved since he was a child. And in recapping the trip with Warchant.com, Gant said FSU had an old-school feeling again.

"I had a great visit," he said. "The culture itself has changed so much. FSU is back to what it used to be with Coach [Odell] Haggins and Deion [Sanders]."

Gant spent much of Sunday at Florida State, learning about Willie Taggart's program and the FSU campus. He also got to spend time with one of his closest friends, FSU sophomore offensive lineman Baveon Johnson, who also hails from the Lakeland area.

"That's like my big brother in Baveon," Gant said. "We came up through the same little-league coaches, and my dad coached him. So this weekend, I got a chance to see everything at FSU with him."
