Florida State got some good news from Rivals100 linebacker Kain Daub today.
Daub, the No. 60 overall player in the Rivals100, was on his fourth unofficial to FSU this weekend and committed on Saturday afternoon.
While Daub planned to give FSU coach Jimbo Fisher the news on Friday, he didn't have a chance to sit down with Fisher until Saturday afternoon.
"It was supposed to happen yesterday, but Coach Fisher already had some plans, so I couldn't commit," Daub said. "We already had something already set up Saturday (to visit) for my mom, so I couldn't commit until today."
Multiple reports stated that Daub committed on Friday night or Saturday morning, but Daub confirmed those reports surfaced before he had a chance to speak with Fisher.
"I was pretty mad that is how it went," Daub said. "But now it's over."
The 6-foot-3, 240-pound prospect, who formerly committed to LSU, narrowed his list down to Florida State and Alabama. But it was widely speculated that FSU was in prime position to land Daub in recent weeks. Daub has known FSU defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt since he was in the seventh grade, his former teammate and close friend DeMarcus Walker is already an early enrollee at FSU while current Sandalwood teammate Blake McClain committed to FSU last month.
Daub told Warchant.com in an earlier interview that he plans to follow in Walker's footsteps and enroll early. Daub is the Seminoles' eighth commitment for the 2014 recruiting class and the second linebacker.
