Rivals250 defensive back Chauncey 'Chuck' Kennon has been a priority target for Florida State for multiple years. It makes it even more amazing that he had never watched a Florida State practice until Thursday.

Kennon took in the Seminoles’ fifth practice of the spring while getting a chance to catch up with the Florida State coaching staff.

“I had to (come back) honestly. It’s a top 3 school. Had to come check them out again," Kennon said on his visit. "I’ve been up here a lot but I’ve never got to actually see a practice. I’ve been to games and just visits around the school. But this is the first practice.

"The energy of the whole program and the coaching staff is very high," he added.

Florida State, along with Georgia and LSU, make up Kennon's top three. Miami is also trying to get into the mix with the four-star.

Kennon got to spend time with both defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain and Head Coach Mike Norvell.

"He’s really into practice," Kennon said of Surtain. "He’s not a laid-back coach that don’t do nothing but tell you what to do. He can do what he wants you to do. I just sat down with Norvell just now. It was really about life more than football. Of course, he wants me to be a Seminole. He wanted to see what my mental health was and everything else.”

But while he may have been familiar with Surtain and Norvell, Thursday was a chance for Kennon to become more familiar with new defensive coordinator Tony White.

"He’s real genuine. He’s a genuine guy. He obviously knows what he’s talking about. I do like the scheme that they’re coming up with," he said.

Kennon is slated to official visit Florida State on June 13. He'll also take official visits to Auburn, Georgia and LSU.

Following those visits, Kennon is planning to have a quick turnaround and commit in July. He plans to take in the Florida State visit with his family in a few months time.
