The Perfect Class (defense): Where things stand after June Fisher Camp

FSU is already off to a great start at this position with four-star commit Robert Cooper, who is very firm in his pledge to the 'Noles. He had a really good visit this past week and plans to return and work out during the July camp. Alabama and Ohio State are staying in touch, but barring something like a coaching change at his position, Cooper will be a 'Nole.

Next in line for the Seminoles seems to be Charlotte, N.C., four-star DT Jordan Davis, who took visits to FSU and Florida this past week. The FSU visit seemed to be the highlight for Davis, from what we are told. He really liked his connection with the players and also his time with defensive tackles coach Odell Haggins. I'm told FSU is pushing pretty hard here, trying to get Davis on board, and he knows that. It also doesn't hurt that his former teammate Josh Brown is at FSU. The Seminoles are trending upward pretty well here.

With Rick Sandidge, we are told this is likely an FSU-South Carolina battle. Florida is also in the mix, but it's mainly the 'Noles and Gamecocks. Some have told me South Carolina is going to be tough to beat because he's been there so often and likes being closer to home. Others sources say this one is pretty tight and that Sandidge is talking the most about the FSU visit. Noles are the team that seems to be trending this summer so far.

Next there is Houston, Texas, product Keondre Coburn, who is close friends with 2017 signee Marvin Wilson but has yet to visit FSU's campus. He plans to do that in July for the second Fisher camp. At this point, I think home-state schools Texas A&M and Texas probably hold the edge, but he's intrigued by the 'Noles.

Three other potential targets are IMG Academy's Verdis Brown, Mississippi standout Jeffery Johnson and Raleigh, N.C., product Alim McNeil.

With Brown, we hear the interest has picked up lately. He plans to visit this summer, and he told Warchant he's quite interested in seeing FSU with his family and that he's very impressed with what Haggins does with his DTs. He just wants to learn more about the school.

Johnson is probably the one FSU has the best shot at from this group. He named FSU his leader earlier this spring when he came over for Junior Day, but since that time he has added several offers, including one from Alabama. We still hear the 'Noles are on his mind, but the key here is how much of a priority is he to Florida State. We should know the answer to that when he visits for the July camp. If FSU pushes, he could be a guy to watch, but for now he's simply just on the radar.

Lastly, there is McNeil, who put FSU in his top 10 and said he plans to visit this summer. McNeil told us he has family around the Florida area, and he's watched what Haggins has done with other defensive tackles. Now, he wants to see for himself.
