Top 2019 QB Gunnell blown away by 'amazing' FSU visit, spring game
Houston quarterback Grant Gunnell has known for a while that Florida State wants him badly as part of its 2019 recruiting class. On Saturday at the FSU spring game, the talented young quarterback got a glimpse of just how bad the Seminoles want him.
Gunnell, a 6-foot-6, 205-pounder, got the star treatment from the moment he arrived in Tallahassee on Friday night. Gunnell also got a chance to take in the FSU spring game on Saturday and said he was extremely impressed with what he saw.
He was particularly impressed with watching FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher and his coaching style with sophomore quarterback Deondre Francois.
"It was really cool for me to see because he coaches a lot like my high school coach," Gunnell said. "He's hard on you for even the little things, so I loved that a lot. I also met with Coach Fisher, and he reassured me that I'm the top guy in 2019 and said I got a little bigger. It was a great meeting. The visit overall was really amazing. Never seen anything like this visit."
The visit wasn't just about meeting FSU's coaches and players, but also enjoying the interaction with the Seminoles' fans as well. This was Gunnell's first chance to take in the atmosphere at Doak Campbell Stadium, and the fans also made a major impression on the four-star quarterback.
