Weatherford surprise starter vs. Florida

TALLAHASSEE, Florida -- For the second straight week Bobby Bowden surprised the Seminole faithful at the Booster Luncheon when he announced that Drew Weatherford will get the start at quarterback versus Florida.
Last week against Western Michigan, Weatherford completed just 5-of-10 for 34 yards. Meanwhile, Xavier Lee, who came off the bench early in the second quarter, threw a touchdown pass on his first play from scrimmage. The sophomore from Daytona Beach (Fla.) would go on to complete 9-of-13 for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Despite leading FSU to a victory, Lee will start his second straight game on the bench.

"Drew Weatherford will start the ballgame Saturday unless something happens in practice that would make us change our mind," Bobby Bowden said. "We talked about it a long time this morning and felt like really Lee performs better when he comes off the bench. That was probably one of our bigger factors."
Bowden confirmed that even though Lee won't start, he will definitely play in the game.
Florida enters the game as the No. 4 ranked team in the nation, has a 10-1 record and are a 9.5-point favorite to win. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 noon.
