Xavier Lee to Florida State

The long wait for Seminole fans is finally over. After months of anticipation five-star signal caller Xavier Lee announced at his high school football banquet Sunday night that he had committed to Florida State.
"I visited my top three schools and the visit I had the most fun on was Texas but when it came down to it I had to go where my family is and where my heart is," Lee said. "I'm going to go spend the rest of my college career with a very old coach (laugh). I'm going to Florida State to play for Bobby Bowden."

There were rumors that Lee might be wearing a Peter Warrick jersey but instead he simply pulled a white FSU hat out of a bag.
The Rivals.com No. 1 rated dual-threat quarterback cited several factors that led to his decision to select Florida State over schools like Auburn and Texas. However, the ability to compete for a starting job in 2005, the closeness of FSU to his family and friends, and the fact that his brother, Anthony Kelly, plans on enrolling at FSU next January were too much for him to overlook.
Even though there are only two scholarship quarterbacks currently on FSU's roster, Lee made it clear that he intends on redshirting this season.
Lee is Florida's all-time prep record holder in passing yards (9,082), completions (549) and touchdowns (98). His amazing numbers are a big reason why he earned the coveted Florida "Mr. Football" award last month. He was recently named to the Riddell Footwear All-American Team.
After scoring an 18 on the ACT, Lee just needs a good final semester in the classrooom to be academically qualified.
