Good shots, was down looking at it this morning, both sites coming along. IPF really takes a lot of that back space, see where they extended the area for the outdoor fields into the parking lot between here and the stadium. Looks pretty good, though the crowd flow through that reduced area from gates L and M toward and past Bobby's statue on game days is gonna cause things to back up a good bit I expect. Take a few games for folks to figure out the best paths. Sign says ready by August so that's got us covered going forward once spring practice is finished up. Nice.

It is a premium photo gallery for Warchant.com customers only. However, if you just pick one photo and put it on Facebook that's fine.

Thanks...I'll just pull one down of the IPF and post it.

Great shots of both venues. I'm shocked how far College Town has progressed. Exciting times in Tallahassee.

Did we just pay for new grass and practice field installment, only to have to mess it up again in construction of IPF?

Its called progress, not "messing up" anything.  I like the screen name by the way.

Sweet. Both of these projects are going to make great additions to the area, for different reasons.

It's gonna be interesting with what happens to the remaining areas around College Town.

Yes

Real cost of practice field renovation was in the drain fields and infrastructure underground.
1/14 4:23 PM | IP: Logged

Nice progress is being made.  This is a good thing.
1/14 4:24 PM | IP: Logged

Very nice, but they need to bury those ugly power lines.

Curious as well. Does anyone know if the Boosters or another developer has approached the current warehouse building owners about purchasing?
1/14 4:26 PM | IP: Logged
They tore it up last year to install the underground stuff to prepare for this. Basically the grass is the only thing they have to replace....I think. I'm sure someone will correct me if I am off base on this, though.

If college town turns out anything like the bar/resturaunt area were they blocked off the street right off campus in Norman before OU game to tailgate its going to be awesome.

Can't we get a helicopter view of these?

Very impressive.  Guess I have to keep those dadgum tickets and parking pass one more year to enjoy it in person.  I also would be interested how the whole area turns out - and the impact it has on the other watering holes in Tallahassee.

Part of it is already included for phase 2 of the project (the Warehouse right across the street), but the surrounding areas are what i'm wondering about.

Can someone remind me what College Town is exactly?

It is my understanding that one of the owners of a few lots there basically wants insane amounts of money for it so he won't do anything.  Basically loaded and has little incentive to sell for a reasonable market rate.

That whole area will eventually become student housing/commercial area.  Even if college town fails there will still be the demand for student housing as the area around FSU begins to run out of space.

I lived in Indian Village for a couple of years and there were talks even then by my landlord that FSU will be buying that land up.  So much that my landlord sold the property we lived in shortly after we moved out in fear of it being bought out by the University in the near future (not to mention those places are getting pretty ratty).

Did they move the sod cemetery? It looks like that has been bulldozed over by the construction. Did Fsu have to dig up all the graves ?! :)

Those were taken out last year when they redid the practice field to flatten everything IIRC.

Will they work in the turf room with lightning in the area?

Thanks for the post. I am one of the partners at CollegeTown's anchor location Madison Social. To say we are excited about the project is an understatement.

As far as the older building around the project, one is Dura Print. There have been several rumors that he owner is "this close" to striking a deal with a major clothing retailer for that space. But, this has been going on for 9 months or so but fingers are crossed.

The other older building will become America's Backyard which is for music.

The rest of the area around CollegeTown will be all new apartments. The apartments directly connected already sold out the 3 bedrooms I saw so the students are embracing it. I believe the number of students within a .25 mile walk will be between 3000-4000.

More to come on Madison Social and I am sure the mods don't want this to turn into an advertisement:)

This is when I just need to send my Uncle Guido down there to provide "incentive" for this guy to sell at a reasonable price.  Uncle Guido is a bone Doctor that specializes in kneecap reconstruction.

Sorry if already posted but when is all of this supposed to be done. I am bringing the extended family done in mid June to see Doak and FSU for the first time and it would be nice to see most of it complete. Any info helps.

I'd love to hear updates as the project progresses.
1/14 5:25 PM | IP: Logged

thank you!!  I love seeing the progress.  I'm glad they are keeping the 2 old quanset roof buildings.  I think the south one was the FSU post office when I was there in the 70's

With that many students within less than .25 mile, Publix might be interested in a spot.
1/14 5:30 PM | IP: Logged
Shoot me an email at mthompson55@me.com and I will show you some renderings and a walk through.
1/14 5:31 PM | IP: Logged

There are about to be 3 more major construction projects going in and around that area.  The old Duraprint building will be renovated shortly.  I've had meetings on that one already.

The amount of money being spent in that area is insane.  I would expect the rest of the buildings in that area would be renovated or demo'd to make room for future projects.

I am sure this has been asked many times before but will the IPF be ready before summer practice?

Sorry for my ignorance on this subject, but what does College Town encompasse? Is it the athletic residence apt./complex the Jimbo wanted? The IPF will be/is a fantastic tool for recruiting, and save us from serious weather periods(no more missed practices.GREAT!!

Gene.com have you heard talk of a larger indoor facility to house the construction of the new Dunlap indoor facility?
