It seems a little unfortunate, Seat Geek advertises on Warchant but we can't advertise via a post here if we have seats?  I think its a win win for everybody if I could buy seats direct at 800-1000, whatever market value is from a fellow Nole via this site, to insure another Nole sits in the seats. If this policy is truly to avoid any issues with scalp laws fine, but if its for taking the high road attitude Noles lucky to get tickets shouldn't scalp seats to other Noles at a profit is just naive.  Its happening, its gonna happen, lets insure Noles get those seats.
12/14 3:56 PM | IP: Logged well said crowl, go elsewhere if you want to make a profit.

So much for capitalism!

I'm not a fan of scalping noles, but with the UF game coming up, I'd really like to list my extra ticket for a whopping $10 or $20 over face and I can't do it here. No way am I going to stubhub or ebay where a gator could buy it. I don't at all like that the "Booster Exchange" is now just a link to stubhub. Boosters are essentially encouraging us to put tickets out there for anyone to pick up. Even here, I question some people who pop up with just a few posts or no posts in the past 6 months but suddenly want a hot ticket. Fortunately, in this instance I should be able to find a good Nole through personal contacts.

I won't question the policy, but I don't like it.

Scalping should remain banned on Warchant no matter the law. The point of this site isn't to make money off your fellow Noles, it's to help each other out.

Getting off my soapbox...

I didn't know that Warchant was a non-profit organization. roll

"...invited off the site.' laugh

How do sellers handle the shipping charges, such as FedEx, without breaking the rules? Noticed that someone on TC posted that they had tix for the NC State game for sale and were asking face + FedEx. Rather than go to StubHub, couldn't they post them here...or would the FedEx charge create a problem?

#1 I agree with the Warchant policy in that it allows us to buy tickets or parking passes at face value (including tax and shipping mind you) from people who share a common interest. FSU athletics. Plus it's like a safe haven from having to pay full retail. I'm all for it. Keep the Warchant policy.

#2 Scalping is the act of BUYING OR SELLING, not just the latter. I've been "scalping" event tickets since high school as a hobby, to make extra cash, and to get better seats for the events I like to go to. I'm a quite good at it and have been dubbed the "Ticketmeister" by friends and family. They wonder how I'm so good at it. I'm also a terrific eBay'r. Anyway, Florida has finally wised up and removed the ticket scalping law. This is a free market economy. Capitalism at it's finest. I'm a full believer in entrepreneurship. It's what made our Country great. Which means if I buy a can of coke for $.50 and sell it to you for $1.00. No problem. I can buy a car wholesale for $5,000 and sell it on Autotrader for $7,000. No problem. I can buy a house on a shortsale for $200,000 and turn it around and sell it for $225,000 a month later if I wish. The same is true for event tickets. If someone is willing to pay what I'm asking for then so be it. Supply, demand and competition determine price. They taught me that right here in economics and finance classes at Florida State University. I just sold my FSU vs UNC tickets for a profit on Stubhub an that's the way it should be. However, if I sold them here on Warchant I would sell them for face or less.

Posted on 9/24 10:02 AM | IP: Logged

What if the tickets are sky box seats. The face value of the "ticket" might be a lot less than the Booster has paid for the seat. The "seat" includes a ticket, plus food, open bar, etc. What is Warchant's position on this?

Posted on 9/30 10:56 PM | IP: Logged

I agree with no scalping here--we're all Noles and face value is enough.

I agree as well. Why would you want to Scalp a fellow Nole? We should look out for each other. This is one of the few sites I go to because I know I can find tickets at face and not some loser trying to rip me off.

Now the Parking pass rule is ridiculous.

I agree completely.

FYI - The servers where this site is located in are in a state where scalping is not allowed. Would we or anybody else get in trouble if we allowed scalping? Probably not, but why should we take any chance whatsoever? We don't get anything out of this board and it's only here as a benefit to our users. And it takes two seconds to go to ebay or a ticket broker and buy scalped tickets if you wish. Not sure why there's a big outcry that you have to be able to buy and sell scalped tickets here when you can do it at a lot of other places.

FYI2 - We don't sell the ticket broker ads and don't get anything from them. That's all Rivals doing. If you want to cry hypocrisy, do it to Rivals since we have nothing to do with it.

Effect is a noun and a verb. It just depends how you use it.

Posted on 8/23 12:37 AM | IP: Logged

This rule could also lead to having to sell to Gators or other rivals. I persoanlly have tickets I have bought on the Boosters ticket exchange board, that I paid more than face for and need to sell, but cannot do it here where I feel I could know with some degree of certanty who I am selling them to.

Like someone else mentioned, the fact that they let you sell them at all on here, would subject them to some degree of liability if that were the law.

I am on here almost every day and would like to be able to sell the extra tickets I have to fellow Noles, but am not allowed to. Just another angle to think about.

Posted on 11/16 7:02 PM | IP: Logged

I completely agree with why Warchant doesn't allow it.. however.. I have never bought a ticket to a decent game without paying over face value.

Whatever though.

Posted on 9/24 11:54 AM | IP: Logged

My only problem with this rule is that I'd rather sell my premium tickets to Nole fans on this site than to non Nple fans on other (Stub Hub, Ebay, etc.) sites! But I guess rules are rules!!!

Isn't a little ironic that we can't scalp tickets on here but the site itself can advertise for a ticket company that sells tickets for over face value?
11/19 11:25 AM | IP: Logged
This policy smacks of holier than thou over simple logic, and hurts the paying posters, mostly the buyers! They would most likely find a better deal here than anywhere else, albeit, still higher than face value. The site isn't selling anything, so I just don't get the banning of discussing it.

It also IS hypocritical for site owners to push "scalping" sites at the same time that discussion amongst posters is banned.
12/14 12:23 PM | IP: Logged So what we seem to be advocating is that Nole fans should put their tickets on ebay or stub hub or the opponents website so our enemies buy the tickets. Ridiculous!!

What we are advocating is selling to fellow Noles at face value, not making a profit on them.

I agree! I am suppose to get shafted on PRIORITY seats I get my MY booster points and sell tickets that arent available ANYWHERE for face value, but someone can lowball me to death via email. My philosophy, if you dont like the price, don't guy them. But don't disable the people willing to pay the price to come to the game. After all I dont get a price break on my booster level and season ticket price for the 2 cupcakes we play every year... I dont own the site so I guess my opinion is null and void.. but its seriously hypocritical.. I will use EBay..

You also don't pay a premium for the good games every year. The reason you buy tickets is because the price is of value to you.

Those are the rules. We'd hope Noles look out for fellow Noles. If you're looking to profit, EBay and StubHub are out there for you to utilize.

Sorry, but scalping isn't allowed. Yes, the law in Florida changed, but that doesn't mean it's allowed on Warchant.com. If it becomes legal in the entire country, it will be revisited.

If you scalp tickets, OR booster packages, on the site you'll get the boot. If you post that you have tickets available and then ask folks for more than face value in an e-mail, it's the same thing. Trust me, they WILL let us know and you'll be invited off the site.

Them's the rules, per the owner.
