My condolences to his family.

Wow, terrible loss to Warchant. The guy was a class act and he will be missed. Can anyone tell me what happened? I've searched all the posts and can't find out the details.

I don't know if anyone here knows. If they do, I'm guessing they don't feel comfortable posting it. I know I have no clue, and I'm not saying this as a shot at you(a lot of people are curiosu) but for me it doesn't even matter, it just sucks he's gone. I'll be at his funeral in the AM and if I hear what happened and it is appropriate I'll certainly post it.

The FaceBook Memorial Page is getting lots of fans and comments on it.

It still feels like a bad dream....numb.

Bo and 56...I am glad you'll be representing us at the funeral tomorrow. Chris says they are doing a military honor which will be a nice tribute to him.

I wish I wasnt 8 hours away...if not I'd be there.

I never knew him personally but always laughed when he posted on the smack board. Godspeed Marine, from one brother to another, OOORRAAHHHH.

I am absolutely CRUSHED by this terrible news. Unfortunately, I never met Semp face to face, but from our email correspondences and the fun we had together on this board, he seemed as if he were a good friend I had known all my life. My heart goes out to his family. He will be sorely missed.

What a shock that is terrible news. I did not know him personally but admired his tenacity and quick wit.

Wow this is terrible news. He was so young too. Prayers and well wishes to his family in this difficult time.

lilcatsfan (AKA Tiff) sends her condolences as well as she will miss his banter and presence (and I'm sure innuendo and humor, and all else Semp brought to the boards)....

RIP, Semper Fi...you will be missed. Condolences to his family and friends.

Thanks to 56 for attending the funeral this morning and representing Semper's friends who could not make it. I wish I was closer to Tally if not I would have gone.

Bo I am not sure if you had a chance to make it but if you did...thank you on behalf of everyone on WC.

Scott said it was a very nice service and had the chance to talk to his son Chris and wife Pam. Told them that Richard touched MANY LIVES on and off the various message boards. His wife said that she will try to log into the SmackBoard in the coming days and post a message to everyone.

There is one thing I want to share with you guys that I dont think Chris will mind....it actually made my smile.

Chris called me after they went to say their final goodbye at the funeral home and see how he was going to be buried. Chris said that his dad had A LOT of face makeup on and was probably saying "I aint no god damn sissy...why all the makeup?"

I totally picture him saying that.

It still feels like a bad dream and that someone kicked me in the gut.

Its so humbling to see that there is a 3 page thread on GatorBait about Semp....not bad for the "stupid lizards" (Semps words). wink

Becca, I talked with Bo today and he was there. Said it was at the gravesite and was quick. Very sad but his wife was doing well. The TAPS brought a tear to everyone's eye as well as the passing of the flag to his wife.

Thanks Underbar...I am sure it was an emotional moment for all in attendance. I am glad Bo was able to make it.

I didn't know him but the smackboard will not be the same without him. He will be missed. The season won't be the same without him on the smackboard. I'm at a loss for words.

This board will not be the same. Met him at the Garnet and Gold game and he was character! He will truly be missed. God bless.

I still can't believe it's true! I'll miss him terribly. He was always a complete gentleman to me. Always stuck up for me. I'm so upset. Semp, be the person you were here on earth in heaven. I have a few people up there that need a tough Marine!

RIP, my friend.

wow been away in ATL for the last few and just read this sad news.

even though dude stole my handle (yes I had it first) he wore it well. i peruse these boards daily and often find myself on the smackboard just to see what dude had to say. my dad (a 30 year Marine veteran) would often log in using my handle on fridays just to see what Semp had for the day.

RIP DevilDog.

He was hilarious and always brought laughter whenever I read his posts. Not to be Cliche but win one for Semper tonight boys I know he will be watching. I miss seeing him own opposing fanbases.

Becca, there are many who can not make this event. Is there a way to donate to the family? A fund of sorts?
9/22 2:01 PM | IP: Logged
Pam is so appreciative of those still willing to make donations even if they cant make it to the event.

She said to make any checks payable to: Pamela Williams and address it to:

The Richard Williams Fund

She asks that you put your Warchant screen name somewhere on the correspondence so she can figure out who its from in relation to matching your real name with you WC name.

I have been able to gather some of the photos that were taken at Semper's fundraising event last Friday night at Piggy's BBQ. His wife Pam's uncle had a camera as well and took a bunch of pictures as well and she told me she'd send them to me as well.

His entire family (even his grand kids) were all there. It was one of those events where you feel a bunch of different emotions at once. I was pleased to see so many people turn out and yet I was upset that we had to be even doing the event at all. Pam was a trooper. I know this was very hard for her.

Richard's niece made up a beautiful slide show with family photos and photos from various tailgates and gatherings where Semper was with WC people. Again, this was another one of those times where you were crying for once second and then laughing the next remembering something silly he said that moment when the photo was taken.

There was a point in the evening where the line to come into the restaurant and order food (the restuarant is set up similar to a cafeteria in that you wait in line and grab a tray and then order the food is already prepped) was going out the door. A portion of the money earned from food and beer sales from 7pm to 9pm is going to Pam and the kids...so even perfect strangers helped the cause. Our crew pretty much took over the entire establishment.

I still dont have an exact amount as to what was raised but to me it doesnt matter. The event was a wonderful way to gather and memorialize a wonderful man!

Thanks to Brian Rowe (CobNole) for everything!

Semper Fi Noles Wife here.....Just wanted to say THANK YOU to all of you that attended the event and even to those that wanted to but were unable to. I know you were there in spirit. The place was so packed when me and my family got there that I didn't know which way to go! And recognized a few faces from seeing them on Richards warchant pages but mostly didn't know who was there for Richard and who were just regular customers. I wish I had stayed in one spot so I could have been able to meet all of you! It was very very tough leaving the house and making the trip up there. I was very nervous, as I have not really been able to get out and do anything. Still after 2 months my heart is so broken and the loss of him consumes my entire day and night. I know "they" say it will get better in time but I seem to be having more difficulty accepting things this past week and missing him so much that nothing seems to help the pain. BUT...I am glad that I went to the event and it really did make me feel good to see how many people loved my husband. He was one of a kind that's for sure! I know my Uncle took alot of photos so as soon as he sends them to me I will post them. THANK YOU AGAIN TO ALL of y'all that came to honor a great man, husband, father, friend and NOLE FAN. Our family mourns for him daily and still find ourselves running over to tell him something that's going on or just wanting to hear him laughing at the computer at nights while on warchant is something I would give anything to hear again! You guys sure made him happy and for that I love y'all dearly. Take care and SEMPER FI!

THANK YOU EVERYONE THAT CAME TO PIGGY'S TO HONOR RICHARD. I WISH HE COULD HAVE BEEN THERE UNDER DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES BECAUSE I KNOW HE WOULD HAVE HAD A BLAST SEEING Y'ALL THERE.
IT IS 2AM (OCT 31ST) NOW, SO IT IS OFFICIALLY MY BIRTHDAY. YES, I'M A HALLOWEEN BABY. THIS ONE WILL BE TOUGH AS THE FIRST BIRTHDAY I GOT TO SPEND WITH HIM WAS WHEN I TURNED 16. HARD TO BELIEVE IT HAS BEEN THAT MANY YEARS TOGETHER AND NOW HE IS GONE. DAYS SEEM TO BE HARDER AND HARDER LATELY INSTEAD OF BETTER BUT I THINK IT'S BECAUSE I'M FINALLY REALIZING HE IS NOT COMING BACK THRU THAT DOOR AND WHAT I KEEP HOPING IS JUST A NIGHTMARE I'M SOON TO WAKE UP FROM IS NOT THAT, BUT REALITY AND IT'S VERY TOUGH ACCEPTING. THANK YOU ALL FOR GIVING ME THAT ONE NIGHT TO CELEBRATE RICHARDS LIFE AND FRIENDS AND FAMILY. I WON'T FORGET IT AND WHAT YOU ALL DID FOR US.
TAKE CARE AND SEMPER FI!
