Season starts a week from today...getting very excited for the season! What are some of the things you guys are looking forward to this year?

Besides for the obvious ones, on the local level, I'm looking forward to seeing how the Bulls play without Rose. And how long it takes before he comes back. I'm biased, but I really don't think they're going to be as bad as people think they'll be. I'm thinking somewhere around 3-6 in the East. Thibs has proven that he's a great regular season coach and I think they'll stay afloat even without Rose in there. Then, if he's back by the postseason, no one is going to want to face them.

On the national level, it'll be really interesting to see how the Lakers all-star lineup gels. Their bench is pretty thin so if they have any major injuries they could be in trouble, but man that starting five is crazy.

Nice to talk hoops again!

I'm just hoping that 'Melo carries the momentum from his great Olympic play into the season for my Knicks.

I'll be Capt. Obvious and say Lakers & Heat in the Finals.

I'm looking forward to the end of the NBA season.

I am curious to see what the new Mavericks look like. And with Dirk out for a while somebody else is going to have to take his place. And of course to see if Bernard James can contribute in his first game (which won't be easy since it is the Lakers who have had their own personnel turnover).

But overall the story line will be can Miami repeat. Personally I hope not. But I'm not seeing anyone right now able to match their firepower strength.

My team - Lakers
I want to see how the new pieces fit. I want to see if Dwight can play at an even higher level now with the Lakers. If the pieces fit we should be in the thick of it late in the playoffs.

Players
I want to see Bernard James' game in the NBA. I hope he is successful at the next level.
I want to see if Bynum can lead a team and how he holds up mentally.
I hope Rose comes back strong.

Kinda looking forward to every meeting between the Celtics and Heat. KG likes to throw elbows when the refs arent looking and I want to see if ones goes Rays way.
I want to see how the Thunder play without Harden since he bolted for the money and a starting spot.
10/30 1:41 PM | IP: Logged
Hopefully the Lakers suck and their four superstars (freaking ridiculous) all fight with each other.  Then start pointing the fingers at each other when things don't work out.

I'll have a mild interest in seeing if the Celtics (or anybody) can beat Miami and then LA.  That might account for me watching 7-8 games total this season.

The worst case scenario is the finals everybody predicts will happen.  The two dream teams playing each other.

I love him being in Dallas as I'll get to see every minute he plays.  However, this season those minutes will be very limited.  The Sarge didn't play tonight vs. LAL.  He looked really good in the preseason though and Carlisle & Dirk have said many great things about him, He'll be able to shine in time.

As for your Lakers, I would be patient.  It took the Mavs about a full season to gel with Jason Kidd came back and it took the same for the Heat's 3 to do the same.  Give them at least 1/2 season before you panic.
10/31 1:26 AM | IP: Logged
The Mavericks are on a pace to go 82-0!!! The Lakers .... 0-82.

I was a little surprised at the better than decent defense Dallas played last night. And without two of our big men to go up against Gasol and Howard as well.
10/31 8:02 AM | IP: Logged I watched a lot of Jae Crowder in college...guy is a player. Great pickup by the Mavs. Off to a nice start yesterday with no Dirk and Kaman.

Let's go Mavs!! It's going to be a long season but l can't wait to see what they pull off. It is nice to have some young blood on the team. And I personally won't miss Kidd.

Terry fits right in with yapping poor attitude Celts. Perfect fit.

I can't believe that Rockets trade. Lamb is gonna be a superstar and actually plays defense great move for Thunder terrible IMHO for Rockets. I don't get it and think in 3 years they'll be regretting that.

Lakers looked like Heat first did so I'm sure they'll take a few months but selfishly I hope they never figure it out.

Mavs have some nice pieces.

Cavs/Wizards was like a high school game they're both awful.

He did play well. I saw him play a couple of games in college. I really didn't know how well he would fit. Looks like he just might do well for a rookie where I am sure he will have ups and downs.

Rockets 1-0!  Harden looked good tonight, couldn't watch it because of the BS regional channel they created.
10/31 10:46 PM | IP: Logged Harden was a BEAST last night. That was really fun to watch.

Lakers are a little bit of a mess right now. No doubt they're going to turn things around but two bad games to start. Lillard on Portland is the real deal.

Yay the lakers are 0-2.  If they don't win it all this year I expect Dwight to demand a trade to NJ or possibly Dallas.  Wherever he thinks would get him a ring the fastest.

He doesn't have to demand a trade, he is a FA this offseason.

As a Magic fan, screw him and I'll be back in 2 years once we draft Andrew Wiggins.

Let's hope we tank all year then.  I keep reading about how the team will over achieve this year.  Please don't.
11/1 4:34 PM | IP: Logged I don't think Magic will over achieve they don't have enough talent. Should be a nice rebuilding project in a year or two.

Def surprised by Hardens opener but long season I still hate the trade on Rockets end, maybe Harden will prove me wrong.

Love Kobe stressed after 2 games too funny.

Nice opener by Spurs though Leonard looked lost.
Westbrook watching the ball and not his man as usual.
are there any good offensive PGs in NBA today who can play a lick of defense? Certainly not Westbrook, Paul, Rondo, Parker, Nash, etc....

Where are you reading that? I have seen everyone rank the Magic in the bottom 3. When Arron Afflalo is the best player on your team, you are in deep sh!t. Hopefully, the new GM can trade Afflalo (although it appears they want him as the centerpiece of the rebuild), Big Baby, Nelson, and Harrington for picks to continue the rebuild and just let the rookies play out.

Harden is certainly looking the part of a #1 so far.

Thrilled with my Knicks' performance tonight against Miami.  Great ball movement led to 19 3's in a 20-point rout.
11/2 10:45 PM | IP: Logged
Harden's effort so far reminds me of when McGrady left Toronto for the Magic.  He can be that type of player on O, but no chance to be that good on D.
11/3 2:34 AM | IP: Logged
Traitorous Allen fits right in with whining, poor attitude Heat. Perfect fit. Good to see one of my favorite players, the Traitorous Steve Nash's new team, start poorly out of the gate. Hoping they have the same chemistry problems the Knicks did, the last time they went on a shopping spree. Bad start for the well behaved, non whiny Celtics, their D is horrid. Are they just old or does Avery Bradley make that big of a difference? Probably a little of both. I've been pleased with Sullinger and their bench so far, they'll need all the help they can get.

Their preseason record was 0-8.

Kind of funny what with Dwight Howard going there. The Lakers wanted Mike Brown to coach that team. They got him. Good luck with that.
11/4 1:00 PM | IP: Logged Lakers are 1-3, Celtics 1-2, OKC 1-2, Denver 0-3. Weird start to the season!

11/5 2:34 PM | IP: Logged Magic looked fairly decent last night against my Bulls...even without Jameer. Moore, Afflalo, and Redick played well. They'll be better than people think...although what is going on with Big Baby since when did he become a selfish shoot-first player? As soon as he caught the ball almost every time he started his drive to the basket regardless of shot clock or how many guys were on him.

Nice game on the LP tonight...Brooklyn @ Miami.

Harden back down to earth lately. Lin and the new core still getting used to each other.

Pacers are not building on last season I don't like their body language.

Lakers 1-4 but too early to freak. They play no defense which was always My curiosity with that roster, and have a bad bench.

Hatsbo,
Its ok to love your Celts and admit they love their I hate the planet attitude. They do it to everyone. Heck I know Celt ticket holders who admit its a tough team to like if your not a die hard Celts fan. They thrive on it from Rivers, KG, Pierce and Rondo.

Ray Allen has always been classy since entering the league so that's silly. Clearly they wanted Bradley. To be fair I think Haskem and Pittman are dirty and Battier pushes the envelope on Heat.

Would any of you fire Brown this early?
If you did , who would you get?

as bad as they are going to be defensively on the perimeter , D'Antoni would be an interesting fit

Scratch the would you portion, reports are he has been sacked

Link: Brown fired according to sources11/9 1:11 PM | IP: Logged
The Lakers clearly had no problem firing him. As they should have. They can't tolerate that kind of performance (41-29 in his time there).

Why they hired him in the first place is beyond me. He is terrible as a head coach.
11/9 1:11 PM | IP: Logged I never thought he was a very good coach...but firing anyone after 5 games is pretty ridiculous. Nash is hurt, Dwight clearly isn't 100% and it takes time for all these guys to mesh. I'm not surprised they fired him this year, but I'm pretty shocked it was this early.

I guess I'm equally shocked now as when they hired him. Full circle.

It sounds like D'Antoni is being discussed by management according to Yahoo. They'd have to get a big name, right? Who else is even out there? Stan Van? Phil? Flip Saunders?

Wow... I did not see that coming so soon.  Makes me wonder if Dwight demanded it.

They should hire Stan Van Gundy since he's available and a great coach.

Nice for Twolves. Bobcats 3-3 stop the press!

Waiting for the 3 point Pitino like Knicjs to hit a skid but its early.

I don't get Lakers fiasco either. Something fishy about it. Interestingly Lakers have had league high 6 home games so far, along with Bulls.

They don't figure it out quick who's taking bets on the first locker room fight on a road trip and who is involved with all those egos?

Posted from wireless.rivals.com

Posted on 11/14 11:14 AM | IP: Logged

Bulls actually have a reason for all the early home games...the United Center hosts a circus every year at this time so this is always the time the Bulls go on their annual "circus trip" to the west coast. Even in the best years this trip is always a difficult one. Won't be back in Chicago til November 26th.

Heat effort on the road this season outside Lebron has been pathetic. So much for following the leaders example. Bosh, Wade, Chalmers haven't gotten off a team charter yet and are playing zero defense. It's early but Spoelstra better get then hungrier or they'll let the East hang around and think #1 is up for grabs.

Pacers, yuck. Grizz with a nice win

It's hard to believe Indiana has been so bad...yeah they're missing Granger but they should still have enough to at least be average. Miami's road efforts really have been puzzling...no one played well at all yesterday except James. Clips are really good this year though and a big part of that is DeAndre Jordan's improvement.

Don't look now but the Bobcats only need 3 more wins to equal their total from last year. Big shot by Kemba!
