Sorry to hear the news. Thoughts and prayers to Pam and the family. God speed Larry RIP

Well damn.
This place diminished today, now way around it. Some shoes are too big to fill.
Condolences to Pam and the family.

R.I.P. Larry

I've been dreading this day for a long time now...Larry, you've left quite a hole that we will struggle to fill. Rest easy, you have certainly earned it.

Posted on 4/20 9:47 PM | IP: Logged

Prayers and God Speed.

I never had a chance to meet him in person, but the effect he had on everyone here with whom he had a relationship lets me know exactly how much his passing means to all of us.

RIP Larry.

Rest in Peace, Doc. Like so many others here, I'll miss you and pray you enjoy an eternity of peace. Thanks for all that you did and all you stood for. Prayers for Pam and the family.

larry and i spoke of the coming of this day once. i don't remember how long ago it was - but larry was clear. while he still wanted to live and love, he knew that his life was a full one. full of love, friendship, memories, struggle, emotion and pain.

like most here, i never had the chance to meet larry. but he was my friend. i knew he cared about me and my family. i only hope he knew that i felt the same about him.

while i was stunned to hear of larry's passing, i am warm in my heart having had the chance to know such a person.

rest in peace delta doc.

Posted on 4/20 9:59 PM | IP: Logged

Wow. I expected him to come home from the hospital, just like every other time. This is surreal.

Rest in peace, Mr. President.

Posted on 4/20 9:59 PM | IP: Logged

Very sad. I'm sorry I never had the chance to meet Larry.

I was going through some health issues three years ago and Larry would occasionally send me e-mails that raised my spirits. He even wished me a happy birthday on my 36th birthday, a particularly depressing and stressful birthday. I'll drink several in honor of his memory this weekend. Larry always struck me as a big man with a much bigger heart. We'll miss you, Doc.

I am so heart broken and I am beside myself.

I never got to meet Larry in person but he was quick to email me and check in on me when I was dealing with my cancer a few years back. Anf he would email me just to check in from time to time since he couldnt be logged into the LR all the time.

The LR has an angel above to watch over us.

I am at a loss for words.

Prayers and thoughts go out to Pam and the rest of the family.

RIP Larry.

Posted on 4/20 10:18 PM | IP: Logged

I lost my father last month, so I know how his family and friends feel...thoughts are with all of you - RIP Larry.

Posted on 4/20 10:19 PM | IP: Logged

Wow. I had not checked in due to work and other stuff since Sunday. This is news I did not expect, but, my thoughts go out to his family and I will make sure to have one in his memory and rest somewhat easier knowing he is in the hands of God..See ya someday my friend, but for now, you will certainly be missed.

Posted on 4/20 10:27 PM | IP: Logged

Damn, damn, damn.

Yesterday, the world got a whole lot weaker, but heaven got a whole lot stronger.

Posted on 4/20 10:28 PM | IP: Logged

A sad day that we have known has been coming for a while. Larry was as geniune a person as one could possibly meet on something as artificial as message board. The place will never be the same without him. He was definitely one of the good ones. RIP.

Posted on 4/20 10:29 PM | IP: Logged

I just had a bad feeling about Larry's condition all along, that this could be the end of his fight.

Doc, your emails to me were fun, you were cheerful, and your sweet nature will be missed.

I hadn't read the top of the board today, one of the first days I've missed. I should have known.

Pam, I wish you strength over these next several months, and only the happiest of memories.

RIP Mr Pres

Posted on 4/20 10:32 PM | IP: Logged

Every time I logged into LR I always checked the top on news for Larry... Sure didnt want to see this...

RIP.

Posted on 4/20 10:37 PM | IP: Logged

Rest in Peace Larry.

Posted on 4/20 10:37 PM | IP: Logged

I am deeply saddened by this news, but I know that Larry is now standing tall, disease free, taking wonderfully deep breaths without any trouble. Larry is with his Father, who promises us a new body. As tears roll down my face, I see his face in my mind, smiling.

Pam, please know that this is the case and that one day you will see him again.

I look forward to that day as well.

I will miss you, Larry. Until we meet again.

I too am one who did not have the honor of meeting Larry personally. I am very saddened.

May he rest in peace and he and his family be in God's arms.

Larry was so nice to me, FreeSpirit and I are praying for Pam and the family. RIP Larry

I don't even know what to say... I never met him but it's obvious Larry was a great person. He'll be missed tremendously... Condolences to his family during this difficult time. Rest in peace, doc - you will never be forgotten.

Got the email from Pam before I got online. Was shocked for sure. Emailed her back to offer some personal thoughts.

Always enjoyed the emails from Larry, very encouraging and personal.

I am glad I got to meet him in person Thanksgiving 2005. Sat and watched a game, talked Seminole Football, shared a couple beers, and enjoyed a great taco salad Pam prepared.

Larry, you will be missed!! I thank you, Warchant LR's thank you, and your Great Country thanks you for being you!

They don't make them any better!! A truly "Unconquered" Spirit!

Me and Larry, Thanksgiving 2005

I see rassmon was standing in a hole as well when he had his picture taken with Larry...

Posted on 4/20 11:10 PM | IP: Logged

RIP, Larry.

Pam, although I did not know your husband personally, I felt as though I knew him through his many insightful and funny posts here in the Locker Room. He will certainly be missed, and your family is in my prayers this week.

Matthew 5:4

Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted.

His family and friends are in my prayers.

Should rename this place Larry's Locker Room in his honor. He will be missed.

Rest in peace.

Thoughts and prayers for his family, friends, and all those impacted by this loss.

R.I.P., Doc. You put up a hell of a fight. Thank you for gracing us with your presence for all these years. You will be greatly missed.

I don't chime in here too much but my condolences to Larry's family and to those of you who grew to know him over the years.

God Bless

I was thinking this exact thing earlier tonight. Or place some sort of remembrance plaque on top of the board. Not sure if Rivals would have a problem with that.

Always enjoyed his posts. RIP Larry, the LR will miss you.

+1 for naming this summabich after him

I got the email. frown

I haven't posted on this board for I don't know how long, but this still hurts.

RIP Larry

Best wishes to Pam and the rest of the family, as well as those of you here that knew him better than I.

There will be something as soon as we can get it implemented.

Larry and I only began communicating by E-mail last year. I shared with him some of my brothers experiences in Vietnam and he helped to guide me in how I could best help support some of our active duty heroes overseas today. He gave of himself so unselfishly and always spoke his heart and mind. It seemed like we had been friends a long time and in reading other posts in his memory, many of you know exactly of what I speak. I am sorry to hear of his passing but thankful that his suffering has come to an end. I too wrote Pam after receiving her E-mail and offered my condolences and prayers for them both. Rest in peace Larry, if a man's wealth is measured by those who care about him you are a very rich man.

Posted on 4/21 12:26 AM | IP: Logged

I don't post here quite as often as I used to. I mainly just lurk for scouting news, football notes, and the occasional LOL thread in the locker room. But, when I saw this post today, a part of me felt compelled to try to write.. something.

I have met countless people in my travels these past few years, but few people have touched as many lives as Larry. I have spoken to him countless times on the phone, constantly thanking him for the support and kind words of encouragement when things weren't always so sunny. For a man who faced so many obstacles throughout his life, he never hesitated to be the source of happiness for others. Larry was a man that never knew a stranger, a die hard nole, a jokester, and above all a great friend.

So forgive me if my words fall short, but somethings are just too hard to say.

The LR and the world just lost an amazing human being.
You will be dearly missed my friend. Words can't express the pain I feel.

We'll meet again some day.

RIP Larry. I have the utmost respect for those that defend us.

I am in London on my honeymoon at this moment, but I got Pam's email when I checked my blackberry this morning and I am just devasted. Like so many others on here, never got to meet Doc, but it goes without saying he has had a huge impact on me. Larry loved everyone in the LR, whether you were democrat, republican, christian, muslim, jewish.. To say he was an honorable man is selling him short. As was stated earlier, Larry is now painfree and in some far better place.

Lastly, I thank you DotCom for coming through and bestowing some honor on Larry when it comes to the LR. I always felt it when his time came, the board could be the LR, or perhaps if that can not be done, he somehow makes it on the LR Banner, as though his jersey has been retired.

Posted on 4/21 2:01 AM | IP: Logged

I'm not a "regular" here and never had the honor of meeting Larry, but from the overwhelming response from everyone, I can only surmise how great a man he was. Named after my father and being a Larry myself, I can only hope to have an impact on so many people's lives as Larry did. Thanks for your service to this country, and may God look over you and those who love you. RIP.

Posted on 4/21 2:04 AM | IP: Logged

I spoke to Pam last night. I didn't mean to. I called hoping to get his voice mail to hear his voice one more time. Pam grabbed the phone and it caught me off guard. I really didn't mean to intrude at a time like that, but it was a blessing. She asked that I convey just how much all of the support meant to Larry and to her. The amount of love and immediate e-mails and phones calls blew her away.

How strange it is to love a man you've never met. He was always there, dropping a line to ask about Ian or send Cheryl something pertaining to veterans.

You're back in the air Delta Doc, but this time you're not taking fire.

Posted on 4/21 5:51 AM | IP: Logged

...and just when I thought I was done crying, I read the recent posts, and the tears come again.

If you ever heard Larry's voice, you knowit was DISTINCT! I can hear that raspy, crackly laugh now as I'm sitting here. He'd probably say "What the heck are you crin' for?"

Dammit, I miss him.
