Danny Wuerfuell, E.G. Green, the rooster and Ashley Cooper(MSU). Sad thing is that the best player on that team w/ Danny and E.G. was probably a guy named Tracey Carson.5'11 220 RB. Never made it to college never really played a full season. That would be an intersting thread, the best that never made it

Attended Manatee County High School from 1954-1956 and would have to say that during that time Bill Anderson who signed with Tenn. and then went on to play for the Washington Redskins was the best. In later years Tommy Frazier would probably be the choice.

You guys should have seen Gary "Gigglesworth" Greenfield...he was an all-american punter that actually kicked the ball over his head backward to get more distance. He praciced yoga for flexibibility and worked out kicked milk jugs filled with sand barefoot....quite a player.

Posted on 7/21 6:12 PM | IP: Logged

I'm from a new HS in Weston, FL called Cypress Bay... so we haven't had much luck so far since all of our grads are only juniors in college at the oldest. I only played football for two years but I do remember playing against a guy who scored six touchdowns on us in one game named Dmitri Linton. He's the #2 RB at Rutgers right now and is only a sophomore, so he may be tearing up Big East defenses relatively soon. Also had a game against St. Thomas scheduled this year that ended up getting cancelled because of the hurricane, but they sent three offensive lineman to D1-A schools including two to Charlie Weis' Notre Dame squad. As for the best player from my school, probably Mike Aguirre or Michael Johnson. Aguirre is the 2nd string OT at Arkansas right now and is a redshirt freshman, Johnson will be a true freshman at Colorado State this year and was a Rivals two star prospect. We also had a Rivals three star prospect in the Class of 2007 sign with Pitt last week named Anthony "Buddy" Jackson.

Kenny Stabler
Foley High (Alabama)

Posted on 7/21 6:29 PM | IP: Logged

I got four from Hardee High School.

Florida States own

Zeke Mowatt
Frank Romeo

Then Rashad Faison. He played for The Gamecocks and was freshman all-american. He also was 1st team all-sec as a junior.

Also Chris Barnes. In high school he was unreal. His senior year he had something like 2300 yards and 34 td's. He just didn't have grades. Played at New Mexico State and was drafted in the 5th round by the Baltimore Ravens.

1) William Floyd
2) Earnest Givens
3) Tom Carter
4) Marcelo Church

Posted on 7/21 9:28 PM | IP: Logged

Hopefully Bo Williams. Hearing a lot about him. Before him it would be Terry Richardson (wore #44 at Syracuse) or Mike Mularky (The Dolphins Offensive Coordinator.

NE has never been what you'd call a football powerhouse.

One other guy on the squad that might make waves for us this year is Sterling Palmers Son. Watched him play Defensive End in last years jamboree and he was a beast. Played the position the way it's supposed to be played. Attacked the run and caused at least one interception with his pressure. How I wish we weren't short on scholarships this year.

College football player - I'd have to say Seminole Butkus Award winner Paul McGowan.
Currently, Steven Moffett, QB at UCF, is doing pretty darn well.
I think our all time best athlete was Seminole Track all time great Mike Roberson, who WOULD have likely won an Olympic gold medal (4X100 relay) if we hadn't boycotted the 1980 Olympics. Mike was an All American sprinter, hurdler, state decathlon champ, and HS football stud (not much of a banger, but nobody could catch him). And, a helluva class guy.

Paul Christman, QB. One of the four Rivals "Greatest Players" at Missouri University, and a member of the Chicago Cardinal's (now Arizona Cardinals) great "Million Dollar Backfield" of the post-WWII years (Others in that backfield: Harder, Trippi, Goldberg).

Ross Nagel, Tackle. Signed with and played for the Chicago Cardinals right out of high school (allowed then) and for many years with the Redskins. I worked out one summer with him and we would have punting contests. He was invariably between 100 and 125 yards. What an athlete! Even though he was a tackle, he held the school records for high jump and high hurdles as well as discus and shot (and we were a strong track and field school, as well as football).
