Larry Ward, born January 28, 1948, passed away April 19, 2009. Larry served in Vietnam as a Medic with the United States Army, and was a friend to every person he met. His kindness and easygoing demeanor won't soon be replaced.

His wife, Pam, has asked me to ask those who wouldn't mind to e-mail a couple of sentences about Larry and what you thought of him, how he impacted your life, etc. Please e-mail to LoveYaDoc at gmail.com.

Funeral services are tentatively scheduled for Friday, I will let you know the specifics when I find them out.

Maybe after the shock of this wears off, we can discuss how we, Larry's LR Family, might be able to appropriately pay tribute.

RIP Doc...

My sympathy is with everyone in pain.

Thanks for leading by example Larry. I wish I'd had the chance to meet you.

Posted on 4/20 6:54 PM | IP: Logged

I don't even know what to say.

It really says something that even though I never had the pleasure to meet Larry in person, I am greatly saddened by his passing.

I already miss him terribly.

RIP Doc

RIP Mr. President

Damn, so sorry to hear this.

My sympathies are with his family.

Posted on 4/20 7:30 PM | IP: Logged

Jesus christ!
I can't believe it.

Posted on 4/20 7:45 PM | IP: Logged

Larry was more than just a poster on here, he honestly cared about many of you, he told me once that his wish was to be able to meet everyone, unfortunately his health prohibited that.

I don't think larry would like us all to be sad, but rather I think the next time you are throwing one back, throw one back for larry, he had the toughest job in the military, when he was in combat medics did not carry weapons, yet he went out there unarmed under fire to treat wounded both enemy and friend. It takes a special cut of person to be able to do something like that, we had a pretty tight bond and I feel like I lost a good friend and mentor. I really do not know what else to say.

Posted on 4/20 7:53 PM | IP: Logged

Knocked for a loop. All my thoughts and prayers for Larry's family.

Thanks for everything Mr. President.

I am sitting here crying like a damn baby...

One of my heroes is gone.

You aren't alone, Nozzle

RIP Big Larry

Posted on 4/20 8:22 PM | IP: Logged

It was my pleasure to have met Larry and his wife Pam about three years ago. My son was with me as was Kelroy. Larry became one of son's biggest supporters and often asked about him. Larry frequently sent messages of encouragement and I forwarded every one. This football season will not be quite the same. And I just passed passed on one last statement from Larry. I'm sure it will stay with CP for years to come. Thanks Pam (and JMG).

Thoughts and prayers for Pam and the family. I will miss you Larry.

Gary, you are not the only one crying. I had a bad feeling about this the other day but didn't want to ask fearing it would be bad news.

Posted on 4/20 8:23 PM | IP: Logged

First time I've ever been genuinely sad reading a message board. I knew this day would come eventually, but it still feels pretty surreal.

I never even met the man, but any of us that read what he wrote knew he was nothing but kind-hearted.

RIP Larry. You'll be missed by far more than you realize.

Larry will be missed big time. Prayers to all of his family.

I am completely numb. May God Bless and keep Pam through this and Larry will be missed terribly.

Rest in peace, Larry. May all the beautiful blondes in heaven meet you at the pearly gates.

My prayers go out to Pam and all his family and friends.

Posted on 4/20 8:36 PM | IP: Logged

Rest in peace, Larry. I wasn't fortunate enough to know you; but from what everyone in here says about you, you were one hell of a man.

Posted on 4/20 8:38 PM | IP: Logged

Larry was my other dad - I'm incredibly sad right now, but almost relieved that he's no longer suffering.

Tonight when I look up to the sky, I know I'll see another, brighter star.

Rest in peace, Dad. You'll be missed more than words can ever convey.

While I have not been on this board for to long, it didn't take long to find out what kind of man Larry was. When I signed on tonight my stomach turned over when I read the headline.

I am truly apologetic to Larry's family and at the same time I am jealous that they were able to know him personally!

To Larry's family, God Bless you all....

And as Larry would want it...God Bless America! (Thank you again for your service).

Posted on 4/20 8:44 PM | IP: Logged

Heaven is such a better place with Larry in it. Mr. President you will be missed!

Posted on 4/20 8:47 PM | IP: Logged

Hard to find words...RIP Larry.

sad news indeed.

RIP Larry. You will be missed.

Thoughts and prayers to everyone who knew and loved him.

Always enjoyed interacting with him on this board.

RIP Doc.

Posted on 4/20 8:55 PM | IP: Logged

He touched many lives and made them better. My condolences to his friends and family.

Posted on 4/20 8:57 PM | IP: Logged

Sad, sad news. I spoke to him several times by phone, and he had a very strong and positive impact on me. He was so weak for so long, yet so strong in the ways that really matter.

RIP dear friend.frown

Jeremy and I just had some Jameson for Larry.

It's easy to say Larry wouldn't want us to be sad...it's much harder trying to honor that.

It will take some time.

This is a sad day indeed. All my sympathy & prayers are with Pam, and all of the good folks here in the LR that have enjoyed Larry's friendship & insights.
He often sent me inspirational little emails, he had a spirit that was unmatched.

You will be greatly missed Mr. President!

RIP Larry

RIP Larry. To his family, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Posted on 4/20 9:09 PM | IP: Logged

I only knew Larry from his posts on here, but he was a standup guy and one who I always respected. It won't be the same around here without you.

I'll miss you Mr. President.

Posted on 4/20 9:09 PM | IP: Logged

We will miss you Larry....he was a great guy and although I never met him in person, it was a pleasure to know him. I was touched by Pam's email...I can tell we were family.

RIP

Posted on 4/20 9:10 PM | IP: Logged

Even though I never met Larry in person, I was fortunate enough to speak with Larry via email. I feel empty right now beacuse I lost a hero. He was a great man and someone whom I admired greatly. My thoughts and prayers are with Pam as she goes through life without her love. I'm looking forward to the day when I can meet Larry in Heaven, shake his hand, and give him a big hug.

You'll be greatly missed, Mr. President!!!

Posted on 4/20 9:11 PM | IP: Logged

sad news, RIP

Posted on 4/20 9:14 PM | IP: Logged

I love that guy.

I like Mickey Mantle because of my father, and now, he is placed on a higher pedestal because of the respect I have for another fatherly figure who shared Mantle stories with me through email.

Posted on 4/20 9:16 PM | IP: Logged

I never met Larry in person. In fact I haven't been around this board as long as most of you guys on here. But from the posts that I got to read of Larry's he seemed like a great man and the words of all those who have posted above me reflect that. I literally have a lump in my throat right now. The Locker Room won't be the same. I will say a prayer for Larry's family. You will be missed Larry.

Posted on 4/20 9:27 PM | IP: Logged

Like others I never had the pleasure to have met larry in person but i felt as if i knew him from here.

RIP Larry and my deepest sympathy to Pam.

It is surprising to me how close I can feel to someone who I only knew through a website.

And on this sad occasion I would like to tell all of you jokers that i appreciate ya'll too.

Posted on 4/20 9:28 PM | IP: Logged

Thank you, Larry, for all of your love and support of all of us over the years. You will be sorely missed. God bless you Larry, now and always. Thoughts, prayers, and God's comforting love to Pam and all of his family and friends.

I knew this day would come, but you're never really ready for it.

Posted on 4/20 9:31 PM | IP: Logged

I never got the opportunity to meet him in person, yet felt like I knew him.

May you rest in peace Larry.

Posted on 4/20 9:34 PM | IP: Logged

I was not ready for this. Don't know what to say.
