I Love Florida State

Posted on 8/8 11:44 PM | IP: Logged

Thanks Dem, those photos brought back some very pleasant memories of my time at FSU.

Posted on 8/9 7:29 AM | IP: Logged

I see where I was born!

Posted on 8/9 9:02 AM | IP: Logged

WOW. Thanks. I was in that '64 shot; and beilieve it or not, my future wife and I were some of the folks holding up the cards in the '68 picture. The Noles have comes a long way in 61 years. More to come.

I had no idea Fiorello La Guardia was our Homecoming King in 1985.

Kidding aside, superb collection.
Anybody here old enough to point out the hot tailgating spots in those 64/65 aerial shots?

Great post Dem. Thanks.

Awesome, just awesome.

I hope that everyone takes this in the joking/silly manner that it's intended, but what's up with the guy in the 5th photo: "Hurricane season ends today": (In the FSU shirt)

Dude...........tongue

I mean, really............

Absolutely awesome DN! Those 70's shots of Doak brought me right back to my college years. It's so neat to see the progression of Doak over time.

Great Post DM. I go back to 64 and Doak is like a home to me, and now to my kids. I remember many of the shots you had. Thanks:)

From a vacant field to erector set to where we are now, Wow! Great thread

Posted on 8/13 3:14 PM | IP: Logged

That '85 sideline shop of Coach Bowden talking to Kirk Coker is great.

Posted on 8/14 9:09 PM | IP: Logged

Great great stuff, thanks for sharing!

I also never noticed how much the parking lots (due to the bordering roads, of course) ended up making such a "spear-head" shape - ala the overhead shot from '65.

Well...sorta. But still!

Posted on 8/24 10:31 PM | IP: Logged

Supremely cool. My dad was at FSU in the fifties and given the fact that he passed in the 70s when I was a small child its beyond moving to see pics of what FSU was for him back in the day....

Posted on 8/24 11:44 PM | IP: Logged

I was in both the 64 shots and the 68 shot.. lol

Posted on 8/25 8:41 PM | IP: Logged

I wonder if Bowden talking to Kirk Coker was a Auburn when he had a pretty bad concussion? Looks as if he just might be checking to see if he knows where he is.

Posted on 8/28 8:28 PM | IP: Logged

The 1985 Shot of the players has John Brown in front # 50. I played HS football with John. Dude was a beast. FL Heavy Weight wrestling champ and weightlifting champ in HS. Great Nole.

Enjoyed that greatly..thanks!!!

Posted on 9/2 7:02 PM | IP: Logged

Good stuff. That 1997 picture was the 47-0 beatdown of UM I'm hoping to replicate on Monday night

Posted on 9/5 6:26 PM | IP: Logged

The good ole days of "Joke Shambles" Stadium...we've come a long ways!

Posted on 9/17 8:58 AM | IP: Logged

Great pictures, thanks

Posted on 10/4 10:49 PM | IP: Logged

great pics, finally something positive.

Posted on 10/6 11:10 PM | IP: Logged

Don't ever remove this post. When I'm down and disapointed with our team or with Bobby, I'll cometo this post. Thanks for the memories.

Posted on 10/19 11:56 AM | IP: Logged

Look at how old Bobby looked way back in 1993.

Posted on 10/19 2:06 PM | IP: Logged

Demo:

Thanks for the memories.I was there at most of the 64 and 65 games before I transferred to FSU in 67.

Posted on 10/23 10:37 AM | IP: Logged

Great pics, brought back some great alcohol-influenced memories. Smile

Folks, i believe that the 1978 photo is Bragg Memorial Stadium. Neither our east or west stands were that small in 1978

You could very well be correct. All the captions are taken straight from the tags on the Florida Photographic Collection. So, if any of mine are wrong, it is because of the FPC.

Posted on 11/21 9:47 PM | IP: Logged

Good stuff Dem. I enjoyed.

Posted on 12/8 1:10 PM | IP: Logged

I am extremely pleased with the longevity of this thread.

i was going to ask if #50 was john brown. i remember a someone asking him before the gator game what he had to say about some player saying he was going to school brown and get nasty. brown simply said with a grin, "that's my game". you are correct in that he was a real beast and bad a$$.

Seeing those pics from the early '80's is almost unbelieveable to me how old they look. I was there from '81-86....how rinky dink the stadium looked etc....wow.

Thanks, Dem! It's hard to believe the 1950 DCS and the 2010 DCS are the same place. I was there 74-78 - many good memories.

I think the Polaroid cameras were out then.

Posted on 5/26 2:41 AM | IP: Logged

The very last photograph where you have date unknown is likely late 60's or early 70's, since the line of magnolia trees is still there, the ones that screened off the stadium lot from the old Pensacola street overpass. And I still have the yearbook that featured the photo of the 68 "card" section. Those were all the fraternities back when they had block seating.

For sure. I think that if you look at it long enough, you can just catch a whiff of Hai Karate.

Yes the exam went well. I took it back in 2009. I completed my MBA in July 2010. This thread has lasted over a year, which brings me much joy.
