It's that time of year everyone. We will again be hosting 100 children and 10 chaperones from The Boys and Girls Clubs of Tallahassee for the Youth Day Game against Savannah State at 6pm Eastern on Saturday, September the 8th.

Do you remember the first sporting event you ever attended? Help create a positive, lasting memory for a child by being an event sponsor in 2012.

Thanks to the FSU Ticket Office, ARAMARK, The FSU Athletic Office and Seminole Boosters Inc., each child and chaperone will receive a ticket to the game, food and drink voucher and a FSU Football T-Shirt!

Each donation of $20 will sponsor a child or chaperone for the game. We need to raise $2200.00 to cover the highly discounted ticket costs for this event.

You may mail your donation by check to:

Seminole Ticket Office
Atten: Mark Cameron
PO Box 2195
Tallahassee, FL 32316

Make your check out to: FSU Ticket Office

Please reference: "Boys and Girls Club Donation" on your check

For credit card donations you may also contact Mark Cameron at the FSU Ticket Office directly at 850-645-9770. Your donation is tax deductible and an e-mail confirmation of your donation will be sent to you at the address you specify.

The Director of Operations for The Boys and Girls Clubs of The Big Bend is Charles Smith and he can be reached at csmith@bgcbb.org. Charles will be the primary organizer on the Boys and Girls Club side and oversee the event in-person on game day.

Thank you for your past support of this great event, let's keep it going in 2012.

Thanks to you too, Spearit1 man, for again taking the lead from the fans side on this. We're building up our audience of the future.

While a mere lad in North Jax in the late 50's, the Boys and Girls Club was very good to me, offering me and my pals a chance to earn a week at a summer camp down in Immokalee.  It feels good to be able to give a little back to this wonderful and oh so necessary program.

Thanks Seminole Ticket Dudes, Booster Buds and Aramark aardvarks, for working with us to enable this program to reach fruition.

Way to go! That's 35, unless my calculator is broken again. 1/3 of the way there a couple of days out of the gate! One question. How does the food voucher work? Does it allow them more than one drink? It's gonna be pretty hot I imagine, so fluid intake should be monitored. Maybe there could be some bottles of water rustled up just in case?

Keep in mind it's a 6pm kick-off time for this game so heat will only be an issue very early on. The food and drink voucher works like this...there are three categories they can make 1 pick each from. First is hamburger, hot dogs etc. Second is side items such as chips, nachos. Third is drink type and it is a large sized drink. The kids will be well taken care of in this regard. Chaperones will look out for the kids too as they have in past years.

Thanks to the Seminole Club of Greater Orlando for their sponsorship of 10 kids. I have been told of another possible donation arriving today for a large group. We are getting there! Sponsor a child today and be a part of FSU's community outreach, you can make a positive difference.

Thank you J Vann for your sponsorship of.........25 kids!!!!!  Wow....
7/31 10:58 AM | IP: Logged

So if my my math is correct...

3 sponsorships of 5 kids = 15

3 sponsorships of 10 kids = 30

1 sponsorship of 25 kids = 25

That puts us at 70 out of our goal of 110.......40 more spots to fill with your help.

Can you give us a bit more info on what they get to do besides go to the game? Do they get to see the 3D video, greet the players on their walk to the dressing room or anything like that?

Great start by the way, Folks are really pouring it on this year!

Nash,

We try to keep it simple. The BGCBB provide their own bus transport to the stadium and we provide them with bus passes/free parking. They will arrive approx. 90 minutes before kick-off and this year will be part of a "Youth Day Parade" sponsored by FSU. I am awaiting details on this so stand by but it will involve them parading with the Marching Chiefs to the stadium. We get photos of the group outside Doak, escort them to their seating area on the Chiefs end of the field, distribute their food and drink vouchers etc. We'll take them their FSU T-Shirts on Friday afternoon so they can wear them to the game. We'll have public address inside Doak welcome them to the stadium and recognize their group. There had been talk of locker room tour etc. but managing 100 children on a game day in and around the stadium is a tougher task than you would think.

Updated total: 65

We received a couple of individual child donations that we weren't expecting and have not received a donation (as of this morning) for 10 children previously calculated in the donation estimates.

Received a couple of more single donations last night. Let's wrap this thing up by next Friday. Please call Mark at the ticket office (see top of thread) or mail your check today. $20 gets a child in to the game, with food, drink and a FSU T-Shirt.

Join me on game day as we welcome the group to Doak for Youth Day.

That means were up to 78!!! Just heard from a couple of other folks that mailed there's in today. Great response again this year. Very thankful for that, especially with the economy. Just shows you how unselfish people can be, even in tougher times.

Let's close it out next week!

Thank you Tampa Seminole Club for your sponsorship of 10 children!!

We are very close to having all the children sponsored, please give Mark at the FSU Ticket Office a call today (850-645-9770) and sponsor a child. He can give you an up to the moment total on where we are with donations.

$20 gets a kid to the game, food and drink and FSU T-Shirt, most impotantly, they get a positive memory of a great day for the rest of their lives.

Let's finish this now. Thanks!!

Thank you's go out to Joey R for sponsoring 4 kids, S Pepper for 5 children, Ken and Tanya S for 5 and Christine G for 1.

As of yesterday afternoon there were 7 spots left to sponsor. 7!

Please give Mark a call on Monday morning and we can put another successful sponsorship drive in the books for 2012.

Planning for the Youth Day Game Sept. 8th looks to be near completion and this is what our guests can expect. On Friday the the 7th, Mark Cameron from the FSU Ticket Office and I will head over to The Boys and Girls Club office and meet with Director, Charles Smith. We will present him with game tickets, food/drink vouchers and FSU T-Shirts for both the chaperones and children. The bus passes for the two BGCBB vehicles are being issued again by the university.

On Saturday the 8th, the Boys and Girls Club group along with other youth groups in attendance will meet outside Gate C at 3:30pm. The groups will take part in a Youth Day Parade and will be escorted in to the stadium and around the field during pre-game warm-ups. We will have everyone in their seating block by 4:45 so the kids can get to concessions and have their food and drinks prior to the game start at 6:00pm.

I will reach out to our friend James Warren to see if he can again assist in having the public address announcer welcome the Boys and Girls Club to Doak Campbell Stadium.

Many of you helped make this possible, I'll have pictures of the event up on the Sunday or Monday following the game.
