After visit, 5-star CB has FSU in the mix: 'It was such a strong vibe'
The recruitment of five-star cornerback Brendan Radley-Hiles already has been one of the more intriguing storylines in the entire class of 2018, and now we can add another major player to the mix: Florida State University.
Radley-Hiles, who goes by the nickname "Bookie," originally is from California but has been a standout at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., and has shown interest in schools throughout the country. Earlier in the recruiting process, he committed to Nebraska before backing out on that decision following a visit to Oklahoma.
As recently as this month, his list of top schools included the Cornhuskers, Sooners, UCLA, Florida and Clemson.
Now, after a weekend visit to Florida State, the Seminoles appear to be in the thick of the hunt. Radley-Hiles said he decided to make the trip after reconnecting with new FSU head coach Willie Taggart.
"It was crazy because I was supposed to visit UF," the nation's No. 4-ranked cornerback said. "But Coach Taggart, we go way back and I have a strong bond with him. Don't really have that with the new Florida staff."
Radley-Hiles' host on the visit was freshman defensive back Cyrus Fagan, which was ideal because the two have known each other since early in their high school careers. They also spent a lot of time with fellow freshman DB Stanford Samuels III and others.
When asked what was special about the visit, Radley-Hiles said, "Everything."
