Florida State's loaded running back room will be a little less full this fall.
Redshirt sophomore tailback Anthony Grant, who returned to the team in January after missing the 2019 season due to personal issues, has left the program again, a university spokesman confirmed Monday afternoon.
This departure appears to be permanent.
If he had stayed with the team, Grant was expected to compete for third-team reps behind Texas A&M transfer Jashaun Corbin and junior Khalan Laborn.

As a true freshman in 2018, Grant saw limited time at tailback but was a primary kick returner, bringing back 11 kicks for 247 yards.
Coming out of Buford High School near Atlanta in 2018, Grant was a four-star prospect and considered one of the nation's top 20 tailbacks.
Even after Grant's departure, FSU expects to have a great deal of depth at tailback this fall. After Corbin and Laborn, the Seminoles return experienced walk-on Deonte Sheffield, junior college transfer La'Damian Webb and freshman Lawrance Toafili. Freshmen Ja'Khi Douglas and Corey Wren also are expected to split time between tailback and receiver.
Sheffield was FSU's featured back in the 2019 Sun Bowl and rushed for a career-high 87 yards on 18 carries.
