Moments after his team fell to Louisville on Saturday, 31-28, Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher got into a brief, heated exchange with a fan who was heckling him as he walked into the team tunnel.

The fan yelled at Fisher to make changes to his coaching staff, and the Seminoles’ eighth-year head coach reportedly responded by telling the fan to come down to the field and say something.

When asked about the exchange following the game, Fisher said it had nothing to do with frustration following the Seminoles’ third home loss this season.

“There’s no reason to be nasty,” said Fisher, whose Seminoles fell to 2-4 on the season. “I shouldn’t have said something. But at the same time, defending players and the people you’re with … I’m in charge of them. I love them. Like a father. When they say something to your family, you take up for ‘em.”

When asked if he has a message to the Seminoles’ fans, Fisher asked them to keep being supportive.

“Are you gonna be a loyal fan or not?” he asked. “Keep fighting with us. We ain’t quitting on you. Please don’t quit on us.”
