Jimbo Fisher has an idea of what he's getting in quarterbacks James Blackman and Bailey Hockman.

He's seen enough of Blackman to recognize his arm strength while understanding the four-star prospects's 6-foot-5 frame needs developing. In Hockman, he has a left-handed passer capable of making throws all over the field.

Hockman, an early enrollee, is already on campus as an early enrollee, while Blackman signed with Florida State on Wednesday. Both have impressed Fisher with their various abilities, but soon the focus will change. They'll undergo the transformation from being high school quarterbacks to learning one of the more complex offenses in college football.

Fisher's pro-style offense is difficult by design. Practically every true freshman quarterback takes a redshirt to learn the nuances of the scheme. The plan for Blackman and Hockman is to see how they handle the transition into the college game.

"You get the guys you want. The guys you think can play. You let them compete," Fisher said of signing two quarterbacks in the same class. "I don't buy into [signing] one or two [quarterbacks per class]. It's worked in different places both ways. I think both these guys are very dynamic.

"They're very strong. Knowledge. Arm talent. Intelligence. Decision-making. They're accurate. I think they have a chance to be really good players."
