The last time Florida State reeled in a five-star basketball prospect was Michael Snaer way back in 2009. Five years later, the drought is finally over.
On Friday, Leonard Hamilton and the Seminoles landed a highly sought-after five-star prospect. Small forward Dwayne Bacon, of Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill, committed to FSU while on campus for a visit this weekend.
"Thank God, My Parents and everybody who's been there for me but I've decided that I'll be committing to Florida State University!"
The 6-foot-8, 205-pound wing, who is originally from Lakeland, Fla., picked FSU over USC, Tennessee and others.
Bacon is the third commitment for Florida State's 2015 class. Last month, the 'Noles landed four-star Terance Mann, who can play guard or forward in college. Earlier this weekend Rivals150 guard Malik Beasley committed.
A lot of the focus of this year's recruiting class has been on the wing position, and Bacon is an all-everything prospect. He is a strong finishing forward that has exceptional ability on the boards and as a scorer. He is also strong on defensive with his shot-blocking ability at 6-foot-6, 205 pounds.
Bacon is rated as Rivals' No. 22 overall prospect for the class of 2015. He is already off to a dominating start in the AAU circuit posting a 58-point performance and following that up with another 30-point effort a few nights later.
