Here's a look at the Florida State football team's eligibility chart at the end of the 2018 spring semester. This list includes 2018 signees who have not yet arrived on campus, as well as a look ahead to commitments for the 2019 class.
Following the graduation and departure of J.J. Cosentino (with one year of eligibility remaining), Florida State is a bit thin at quarterback. Deondre Francois is coming off of knee surgery and also could be a question mark going forward due to a couple of off-the-field issues. That leaves sophomore James Blackman and redshirt freshman Bailey Hockman as the most stable players at the position. Looking to the future, the commitment of Sam Howell will help with depth in 2019, and it is possible that Willie Taggart will pursue one more quarterback for the 2019 recruiting class.
Florida State is pretty stacked at running back -- both in terms of numbers and talent (three five-stars). However, with Deonte Sheffield moving to receiver, the position isn't quite as deep as it once was. Cam Akers is expected to get the bulk of the carries this fall, but senior Jacques Patrick and freshman Khalan Laborn should also see a a good amount of playing time. Incoming freshman Anthony Grant could start out at running back, but we wouldn't be surprised to see him end up at linebacker, where FSU is extremely thin.
