On Monday, Deondre Francois seemed to put to bed all rumors that he might be wavering in his commitment to Florida State. The four-star quarterback, who has been committed to FSU since July, told Warchant.com and other media outlets that he was "100 percent" firm his his pledge to the Seminoles.
Then he apparently dropped a bomb on Thursday afternoon.
According to his Twitter account, the Rivals100 member had decommitted from FSU.
I'm officially decommiting from the university of Florida state.- Dre (@Deondre_3) January 29, 2015
However, just a few minutes later the tweet was deleted leaving everybody wondering if he had decommitted or not. A short time thereafter, Richard Johnson, Florida Gator correspondent for Jacksonville.com, cited IMG Academy OL coach Spencer Hodges saying he confirmed the decommitment.
IMG OL coach Spencer Hodges confirms Deondre Francois did decommit from FSU. He's meeting with HC Chris Weinke right now. #Gators #Noles- Richard Johnson (@RagjUF) January 29, 2015
Johnson's tweet also mysteriously disappeared a short time later.
Over two hours after the vanishing tweet that started the roller coaster, Francois took to Twitter and explained that his account had been hacked and that he is "still 100% committed to FSU."
I apologize for the inconvenience. It was a mistake. My Twitter account was hacked. I am still 100% committed to FSU #Tribe15- Dre (@Deondre_3) January 29, 2015
On Wednesday, fellow four-star quarterback commitment Kai Locksley received an in-home visit from Jimbo Fisher. He told Warchant.com on Thursday that the visit from Fisher and quarterbacks coach Randy Sanders went extremely well and it seemed to firm up his commitment to the Seminoles.
Locksley is scheduled to receive an in-home visit from Texas head coach Charlie Strong on Friday.
