As he took the microphone during Florida State’s annual Signing Day War Party on Wednesday, defensive tackles coach Odell Haggins asked the hundreds of fans in attendance a rhetorical question.
“Isn’t it great to be a Seminole today?” Haggins shouted. “I love it. I’m happy.”
With good reason.
Just two hours earlier, Haggins teamed up with recruiting coordinator Tim Brewster to land the jewel of the Seminoles’ 2017 class -- five-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson. Along with Wilson, who is rated the nation’s No. 2 player overall, Haggins also landed four-star defensive tackle Ja’Len Parks and three-star Cory Durden.
Add in the two defensive ends signed by Brad Lawing, and the Seminoles’ 2017 defensive line haul features two five-star prospects, one four-star and two three-stars.
“We have guys that can stop the run and rush the passer,” Haggins said.
