Florida State has already racked up some key commitments at the defensive back position and the 'Noles got more good news Sunday as another top prospect jumped on board in DB Houston Griffith. He becomes the 14th commitment in the 2018 class after choosing the 'Noles over Nebraska and others.
The momentum for FSU with IMG Academy DB Houston Griffith has been there ever since he took his first visit to FSU for junior day. Things seemed to get even stronger for the 'Noles' chances when Griffith took a visit to Florida State in June. The reason? His family got to see FSU up close.
"We got here Thursday at 1 p.m., and me and my family got to see the campus and the business school and the whole facilities," Griffith said at the time. "Basically, my family got to experience what I did earlier this year. We had a great talk with Coach [Tim] Brewster, Coach [Charles] Kelly and Coach Fisher. My family liked it."
How Griffith would be used in the FSU defense was also a huge selling point on the visit when he got a chance to sit down with FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher.
"Coach Fisher's talk was very good," Griffith said. "They see that I'm very versatile, where I can play the nickel or the dime position, and that makes me different than a lot of other players. I see this as a great place and it's a family, lots of bonding. It's a place I could see myself there."
Griffith also took a visit to Nebraska, which seemed to really catch his eye, but it seems he could never shake off the feelings of that FSU trip. It also was a major positive for the 'Noles when his close friend OL Verdis Brown committed to the 'Noles recently.
