FSU makes a big push for Georgia OL Scott; decision coming soon
Despite suffering a tough loss to North Carolina on Saturday, the Florida State Seminoles still made a strong impression this weekend on one of their offensive targets -- offensive lineman Brady Scott from Powder Springs (Ga.) Mt. Paran Christian.
Scott already had a strong feel for the coaching style of offensive line coach Rick Trickett from when he camped at Florida State earlier this summer. While this visit was different, he said it met his expectations.
"I'd give it a 9 out of 10. Would have been a 10 if they won," Scott said. "I had a great time. It was pretty cool -- it came down to the end, but a tough loss. But it was a really cool atmosphere."
Scott, who could play offensive tackle or center, also was excited to see the Seminoles' offensive line and the entire offense in person. FSU racked up nearly 600 yards of offense and 35 points.
"Took a little while to get started, but after that, the offensive line looked like they did a good job the whole day," Scott said. "Couldn't have asked for more from them. I think Coach Trickett was pleased after the game when I talked with him."
Playing in his high school offense, Scott said he does more run-blocking than pass-blocking. But he added that his former high school did more passing, so he thinks he'd be comfortable with both at Florida State.
He said he could see himself fitting in with the Seminoles' schemes.
"They were physical, fast ... I felt good about what I saw," Scott said.
