After what was a huge recruiting weekend for Florida State, the biggest question for Seminole fans was how did things go with the nation's No. 2 player, defensive tackle Marvin Wilson.

Warchant.com caught up with Wilson as he was leaving Tallahassee on Monday morning, and it sounds as if the Seminoles made another big splash with the five-star lineman. He said he loved everything about the visit, especially getting to experience it with friends and fellow Texas recruits Baron Browning, Walker Little and Jeffrey Okudah. He also enjoyed being hosted by another Texas product, freshman linebacker Dontavious Jackson.

"Definitely having all the guys from Texas -- Baron, Jeff, Walker -- was a great experience," Wilson said. "I had a lot of fun with the coaches and Dontavious and had a great vibe."

Although Wilson had been to Florida State before, this was the first trip for his mother. So he said the visit gave them a chance to build a stronger relationship with defensive tackles coach Odell Haggins.

"Oh, I spent a whole lot of time with him (Haggins), especially with this being my mom's first time out here," Wilson said. "So wanted her to get to know him a lot. What stands out is he's a good dude. Before he's a great coach, he's a great man. My mom likes him a lot, and she trusts him a lot. So we are moving in a good way with him."

Wilson said he also loves what he's heard about Haggins from former players. The longtime defensive line coach is still close with many of them, including Travis Johnson, who lives in the Houston area.

"One guy I talk with and know well is Travis Johnson, and he speaks very highly about Odell," Wilson said. "That's the big thing for me in that I've talked to previous players, and they all speak highly of him."

While his mother enjoyed checking out the campus, Wilson said she also took some time to see more of Tallahassee. And he added that she came away impressed with both.

"She likes the city a lot," he said. "It's somewhat like Houston in having a city feel for it, but not a big city feel."

Wilson later noted that his mother is a big part of his recruitment and he wants her to be happy. But he added that it will be his decision and that playing close to home isn't a big factor at this stage.

As with his previous visits to Tallahassee, Wilson said he has a special feeling about FSU.

"Being here. Picturing myself here and winning," he said. "I've come here a lot but didn't get a chance to hang out with the players because it was the spring. This was the first time in season. It's really special here, man."

Having been inside Doak Campbell before, Wilson knew it was a big stadium. But he said he was blown away by the crowd and the game-day atmosphere.

"When I walked out of that tunnel on Saturday, I was like, 'Damn,' it was amazing," Wilson said. "Then when they broke out that Warchant, I got some goose bumps."

If he did pick the Seminoles, Wilson would already have one very close friend at FSU in freshman LB Dontavious Jackson. The fact that Jackson already has become a key figure in FSU's defense is a positive trend for the 'Noles.

"Basically ever since he committed last year he's been recruiting me hard to Florida State," Wilson said. "He loves it out here and is balling out, and he said that could be me. So make the right decision.

"I liked it a lot seeing him play. He told me he was going to get a pick-six, but I told him he wouldn't get far (because of his speed), and he nearly got a pick. So I gave him a hard time he couldn't catch."

The five-star DT also enjoyed spending time with some players that he didn't know quite as well.

"D-Jack was my host, but I hung out with [Demarcus] Christmas, Levonta Taylor, [Derrick] Nnadi and all those other guys," he said. "Really all those guys seemed liked they wanted me here. A lot of times when you go to different colleges, you don't see the open arms to you like it is here. They wanted me here."
