You never know who's going to show up for the final day of Jimbo Fisher Camp at Florida State, and there was at least one significant new visitor for the Seminoles Friday as one of the top safeties in the country made his way to Tallahassee.

Israel Mukuamu, a four-star defensive back at Parkway High School in Bossier, La., did not waste any time in making an impression on the Seminoles' coaches and everyone else in attendance at the camp. He was a virtual one-man highlight reel, making a number of big plays with his combination of speed, technique and agility.

"I felt I did really well -- my backpedaling, breaking on the ball and opening up my hips," said Mukuamu, who received frequent praise from FSU's coaches on Friday. "Most schools like me as a safety. FSU also liked me as safety a lot, too, but they also feel I can play corner or safety. They really like my versatility."

According to Mukuamu, he measured in at 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds.

Once the buzz started to build around the camp about the Louisiana product's performance, he was challenged by 2018 wide receiver Stanley Garner during the one-on-one portion of the drills. Mukuamu quickly accepted the challenge before delivering a strong jab and a pass breakup. He then followed that with a few words of trash talk for Garner.

"It was a lot of fun," Mukuamu said. "I felt like I was shutting everyone down. So then Stanley started talking, so I had to show him what I was all about."

Mukuamu said there were many things he liked about his day with the Seminoles, including the chance to work with defensive coordinator Charles Kelly.

"He helped me with a lot of things with my technique," the talented DB said. "He feels I can be a dynamic player because they can use me in so many places. Coach Kelly is a straight-forward guy and a guy you like being around as much as you can."

Following the workout, Mukuamu was invited to go into FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher's office for a very important conversation -- one that included a scholarship offer.

"That was crazy, man," Mukuamu said. "He said they loved me and said they haven't seen a player like me in awhile, and they offered. He asked if they were going to be in the running for me, and I said they definitely are going to be in the running. He really liked my combination as a corner and safety here. They loved me."

Mukuamu also got a chance to check out the FSU campus during a break in the action, and he was equally blown away by that part of the visit.

"It was a really beautiful campus. It's one of the best, for sure, that I have seen so far," Mukuamu said. "It's a great place to be. I feel really good about Florida State after the visit. They are certainly in my top two. Not only are they a top school, but they do a real good job putting DBs in the league."

Mukuamu said there is currently no leader in his recruitment, but he did talk about what was unique about the Seminoles compared to other schools he's seen.

"It just felt right when I was there at FSU," he said. "I could really see myself there. I know they have a passionate fan base, and it's just a great program overall."

Although he plays high school football in Louisiana, Mukuamu explained that he doesn't exactly have strong ties to that state. He is originally from Charlotte, N.C., and later lived in South Carolina.
