MIAMI -- National powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas was well-represented at the Miami Rivals Camp this past weekend, and one of the top prospects on the Raiders' roster this year is linebacker Derek Wingo.

Wingo currently is committed to Penn State and says he's comfortable with that pledge, but at the same time, he still has been listening to a number of other schools. And one of those other programs, Florida State, has ties to the Wingo family.

The talented prospect, who is rated the nation's No. 4 inside linebacker, spoke with Warchant during the Miami camp about the Seminoles, what he likes about the coaching staff, his family's ties to FSU and more.

"I like FSU a good amount," Wingo said. "What I like about the coaches is they like to make the relationship very personable and spend a lot of time talking with me and my family. They stress the process, and how it's long, but what the program is now about. They want me to get there and show you where you fit into the program."

Wingo, who won linebacker MVP honors at the Miami camp, isn't just hearing about the Seminoles' changing culture from the coaches. He is close friends with sophomore cornerback Asante Samuel Jr., who won a starting job during his freshman year and is expected to be one of FSU's defensive standouts in 2019.
