Florida State's 2015 football schedule features a couple of new twists, including a rare Friday night game, as well as a throwback to the old with a return of the FSU-Miami rivalry to a traditional date in October. The slate also features a tough late-season stretch, featuring a November showdown with Clemson that again could determine the ACC Atlantic Division champion.
Of the surprises on the schedule, which was finalized this week by the ACC, none is bigger than the Friday night trip to Boston College on Sept. 18. That will mark the Seminoles' first regular-season Friday game since 2004, when a hurricane pushed back an FSU-Miami game that was supposed to be played on Labor Day.
The Seminoles will open the year at home against Texas State on Sept. 5 as expected, but another new development will take place one week later. Instead of facing USF in late September, as had been previously scheduled, that non-conference game has been moved to Sept. 12. The change was made to prevent FSU from having its lone bye week in the second week of the season.
FSU will then have a rare six-day turnaround before playing at Boston College.
After a bye on Sept. 26 and a road trip to Wake Forest (Oct. 3), the Seminoles will play back-to-back home games against Miami (Oct. 10) and Louisville (Oct. 17). Then the Seminoles will play perhaps their toughest three-game stretch of the season, with road trips to Coastal Division favorite Georgia Tech on Oct. 24 and Atlantic Division favorite Clemson on Nov. 7. Sandwiched between those two will be a home game on Oct. 31 against Syracuse.
