History Lesson: Quarterbacks making their first start under Jimbo Fisher
When James Blackman lines up under center just after noon this Saturday, he will be become the eighth quarterback to start his first game since Jimbo Fisher arrived in Tallahassee as an offensive coordinator in 2007. The prior seven first-time starters have a combined 6-1 record. Three of those starts have come in Doak Campbell Stadium, three on the road and one at a neutral site.
But unlike any of the other quarterbacking debuts under Fisher, Blackman is the first true freshman to start during this period.
Here's a look at the first starts for FSU quarterbacks during the Jimbo Fisher era:

It was quite a debut for Deondre Francois. Playing in his hometown, the redshirt freshman quarterback led the Seminoles to an improbable come-from-behind victory over No. 11 Ole Miss at Camping World Stadium. Having to throw often to help FSU overcome an early 28-6 deficit, Francois threw for a whopping 419 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for another 59 yards.
Francois would go on to lead FSU to a 10-3 record in 2016, including wins over in-state rivals Miami and Florida, as well as an Orange Bowl victory over No. 5 Michigan.
