RB Khalan Laborn could be a dangerous weapon in the running and passing game. ()

History shows you can never have enough weapons in the offensive backfield, and the Florida State Seminoles have started loading up at running back for the 2017 recruiting class. The Seminoles already had one commitment from an elite back in that class, and this past weekend they added another with the decision of Rivals100 RB Khalan Laborn.

Laborn announced his commitment at the Nike Opening event in Oregon on Friday. In this Impact Analysis, we'll examine what his commitment means to FSU and how the Seminoles continue to snatch up some of the top recruits in the talent-rich "DMV" (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area.

How will Laborn fit in at Florida State?

Heading into the 2017 recruiting cycle, Florida State wanted to knock it out of the park at two primary positions -- safety and running back.

FSU already has two top safeties in the fold with Cyrus Fagan and Daniel Wright. The next position of emphasis was running back, where FSU holds a commitment from four-star RB Zaquandre White, who showed at The Opening that he deserves a ranking bump after a strong showing. Then on Friday, the 'Noles added to that backfield with the commitment of Rivals100 RB Khalan Laborn, a 5-foot-10, 195-pounder.

Florida State will enter the 2016 season with five scholarship running backs -- Dalvin Cook, Jacques Patrick, Ryan Green, Johnathan Vickers and freshman Amir Rasul. Rasul isn't expected to see a great deal of action in FSU's backfield this season, but he is one of the fastest players in the country and was the only running back in FSU's highly touted 2016 signing class.
