Head coach Jimbo Fisher and the Florida State staff pulled off another win on the recruiting trail Thursday when Rivals100 DB AJ Lytton announced he has committed to Florida State over Clemson, Maryland and others. Lytton is the third defensive back in the Seminoles' 2018 class, and they now have 10 commitments.

He also is FSU's latest big pickup from the talent-rich "DMV" area of Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia.

"It's really impressive to get a guy like AJ Lytton for FSU," Rivals recruiting analyst Adam Friedman said. "He's from around the neck of woods that Ronald Darby is from. It shows they are willing to recruit these DMV areas and making them as a priority, and it's very important."

How will Lytton fit in at FSU?

There's no question that cornerback is a big need for FSU, even though the Seminoles seem to load up at that position nearly every season. Depending on how things play out, there's a very good chance FSU could lose six defensive backs to graduation or the NFL Draft after this season.

The 'Noles definitely will lose senior safeties Nate Andrews, Trey Marshall and Ermon Lane. They also will lose senior cornerback Malique Jackson, and there's a very good chance they will lose all-everything safety Derwin James. With another big year, junior cornerback Tarvarus McFadden also likely would opt for the NFL Draft.

FSU does bring back some exciting playmakers for the future with sophomores Kyle Meyers, Levonta Taylor and Carlos Becker, as well as 2017 early enrollees Stanford Samuels Jr. and Cyrus Fagan, both of whom made strong impressions this spring. Then there are juniors Marcus Lewis, Calvin Brewton and A.J. Westbrook, who saw a lot of playing time at different stages of last season. The 'Noles also will have a dynamic freshman coming this summer in Turner County (Ga.) DB Ontaria Wilson. In addition, freshman Hamsah Nasirildeen out of Concord (NC) is another top DB to watch.

So the cupboard certainly won't be bare, but FSU needed to bring in some very good weapons at the cornerback position for the 2018 class, and Lytton gives the 'Noles another potential shutdown corner to go along with four-stars Isaiah Bolden and Asante Samuel Jr.

We spoke with Rivals recruiting analyst Adam Friedman, who has covered Lytton as much as anyone, and he FSU is getting a defensive back that can do a little bit of everything.

"He's a true cover corner," Friedman said. "If you want to lock down a No. 1 receiver, this is the type of guy you want on the field. Someone who is going to be extremely fast, has great footwork in not wasting many steps, and is always going to be around the wide receiver. You are going to have to make some tough catches against this guy."
