After falling to Arizona 4-3 in 12 innings in its College World Series Opener, Florida State has fought off elimination twice to earn a rematch with the Wildcats. FSU, the No. 3 overall seed, eliminated Stony Brook 12-2 on Sunday, and followed that up with a 4-1 over No. 2 seed UCLA on Tuesday.
Arizona has been off since defeating UCLA 4-0 on Sunday thanks to a complete-game shut out by Konner Wade. Arizona is hitting just .219 in CWS action this year -- but has held opponents to a .176 average.
Brandon Leibrandt (8-2, 2.65 ERA) will start on the mound for FSU as he did in game. The freshman lefty gave up just three runs, two earned, on six hits and no walks with five strikeouts in 4.1 innings the last time out.
The Wildcats are expected to go with ace Kurt Heyer (12-2, 2.22 ERA) again, but haven't officially announced. Heyer gave up three runs, one earned, on six hits and three walks in in 7.2 innings in the opener. If not Heyer the Wildcats will go with James Farris (7-3, 4.18 ERA).
