TE Tre McKitty gives FSU official visit a 10: 'I really liked what I saw'

This past weekend was Florida State's chance to leave a lasting impression on tight end Tre McKitty, who is an Oregon commitment but has already been to Tallahassee on more than one occasion.

McKitty, a three-star prospect from the IMG Academy in Bradenton, camped at FSU a year ago and returned again this summer to watch this camp. This visit was different, though, as he got the chance to experience all that FSU had to offer with his family.

"I had a really good time. Great visit. I would give it a '10,'" McKitty said. "Just everything clicked with the players, coaches, and came away very impressed with the offense. How big of a part the tight ends are in the offense."

Against North Carolina, FSU's offense generated nearly 600 yards and 35 points, and tight ends Ryan Izzo and Mavin Saunders both had big days.

McKitty's host for the official visit was former IMG teammate placekicker Ricky Aguayo.

"He was telling me what it's like as a player and how much he loved it," McKitty said. "It was so good catching up with him. I hung out with a lot of players this weekend, like Ryan Izzo, Ricky and Deondre Francois. I felt comfortable with all the players and got a chance to talk with players I knew by name."

McKitty enjoyed spending time with Izzo, who certainly knows about playing early at FSU. Izzo claimed a starting job last season as a redshirt freshman. And the redshirt sophomore had nothing but good things to say about head coach Jimbo Fisher and tight ends coach Tim Brewster.

"Ryan talked about how Coach Fisher, Coach Brew are going to put you in position to make plays and how it's a family here," McKitty said. "But at the same time, [it's] an offense that will spread the ball around and is explosive."
