Florida State Football lands second RB commitment in eight days

It seemed a bit unusual for Pinellas Park running back Lawrance Toafili to make a last-minute visit to Florida State last week, right before the NCAA's recruiting "dead period" went into effect.

On Wednesday night, we learned just how important that trip was as Toafili, a three-star tailback, announced he has committed to the Seminoles over a slew of schools, including Ohio State, Florida, Miami and Michigan. He made the announcement on a Tampa-area television newscast.

While the timing of the decision was a little surprising, the commitment is not. Florida State has been Toafili's dream school for a long time, and he was very excited when he made an unofficial visit to FSU in January.

"I had a really good time," Toafili said at the time. "It was great being back around Florida State since that's my favorite team growing up. I would give the visit a '10.' I had a lot of fun, and everything just clicks when I'm there. I liked the FSU fan base (at the basketball game), and the passion they have about the program. It's like a family."

Toafili becomes the second running back commitment in the 2020 class for the Seminoles, who are expected to sign as many as three.
